Can we all just agree to STFU with the “Go-Go” thing already?
Yes. Frodo is a yuge trump supporter. Loves the guy.
Alabama lost one of their most valuable defensive coaches to Georgia.Nick Saban retired less than 6 days ago. In that time, Alabama / Washington / Arizona have all lost and hired new head coaches along with nearly their entire staffs.
It's been 80 days since Kirk’s son, Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz was told he wouldn't be renewed and 15+ days since Iowa's bowl game. In that time Kirk hasn't been able to hire a OC and, according to the NIL guy, is still out there interviewing and hasn't come close to offering someone.
Lol.
Well, now we know it happened.I don’t think that happened but who knows?!?!?!
Leistekow said this morning he's learned in the past 24 hours it won't be Philbin.
Given a major party held its caucuses on MLK Day, I'm not sure most of the state is aware of the holiday.Iowa seems like the team to finally hire a black OC and then not actually announce it on MLK day.
Which is of course the point the Kirk ballwashers missed when attempting to defend the speed of Iowa’s process vs how quickly Alabama moved after Saban’s announcement.Nick Saban retired less than 6 days ago. Bulllll….shit….Given our aging head coach & current predicament at the QB position, this is simply going to be a very difficult job to fill.
He'd most likely be a good, but making him the highest paid OC in the country would be dumb. That'd be over $2 million for a guy who had 1 year as an OC in the Mountain West. Fuck. This is getting stupid. If KF tries to do that, Beth should fire the old man on the spot. Period. The Bud man already should have been fired, along with Barnett, that brilliant O-line coach.
Until we know otherwise, I'm still hoping for the guy from UNLV. Make him the highest paid OC in the country. The money is there. That hire would shock the college football world and make Iowa an immediate contender for the Big Ten title and CFP. Anything less, and KF needs to go. Period.
I was literally afraid to take a shit yesterday, given the stakes.Given a major party held its caucuses on MLK Day, I'm not sure most of the state is aware of the holiday.
This guy sucksThe P-C's Leistokow said point blank this morning that it "won't be Philbin or UNLV offensive coordinator Brennan Marion." If that's correct, that's good and bad news. Iowa doesn't need a retread like Philbin, but Marion and his innovative, run-based "Go-Go" offense would be a perfect fit with Iowa's philosophy and personnel, so if KF doesn't get Marion, he'll have made another huge mistake.
Leistikow goes on to say he thinks KF will now go for someone from the NFL since Chryst was offered the job and turned it down. Maybe there's someone out there in those ranks who will work out, but Marion would be a fantastic choice, so passing on him is a mistake, no matter what.
Baghdad Brad. (Quasi stolen from Gus).Either way, the update from Brad NIL guy sucks and is pretty telling today. He obviously got an update from Iowa/Kirk and is out there trying to do damage control for them. He's selling the fact that not only is a OC hire not imminent, but Kirk is trudging around conducting interviews and no offers have been made.
That's not good.
Then just suspend the search and look for a new head coach insteadLeistikow now thinks this drags on into February. LOL.
Chryst wants the job badly.
That or wanted more autonomy over the offense than Kirk was willing to cede. That may have been RATT, but then he found out the salary limitations and changed his mind.
not salary issues- Kirk was just looking for a multi-year commitment. That may have been RATT, but then he found out the salary limitations and changed his mind.
It’s a RATT no matter what, because that’s how RATTs work. That may have been RATT, but then he found out the salary limitations and changed his mind.
dude.not salary issues- Kirk was just looking for a multi-year commitment.
Let’s go with Butfycker. On Feb 17th they’ll announce the hiring of Buttdart for a salary of $799k.
the guy did spend a long time in South DakotaImagine moving your family from the PNW to fucking Alabama
Or that it would have a chair, but it flushed.Or maybe he found out his office wouldn’t have a standup desk.
Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding dingThat or wanted more autonomy over the offense than Kirk was willing to cede.
Let’s go with Butfycker
South Dakota, while rural, is very nice.the guy did spend a long time in South Dakota
I’m LMFAO thinking about how some folks here got called “hysterical” for suggesting this was going to be handled “in the most Iowa way imaginable.”That may have been RATT, but then he found out the salary limitations and changed his mind.
Cry about it. Maybe even hysterically.I’m LMFAO thinking about how some folks here got called “hysterical” for suggesting this was going to be handled “in the most Iowa way imaginable.”
LOL. The ballwashers are getting ANNNGGRRRRYYYYY!!!!Cry about it. Maybe even hysterically.
Birmingham area > Des Moines area.Imagine moving your family from the PNW to fucking Alabama
The sad thing is that Brian reached such levels of ineptitude that you could probably get away with giving some D2 coach $500k and still see a decent amount of improvement.Dad wants to find a cheap OC AND one that also won't make BF look incompetent at any point. That's a tough find and probably will take until at least mid-Feb
Birmingham is the Detroit of the southBirmingham area > Des Moines area.
This is sort of my thought as well. It literally couldn't get any worse. A fairly no-name OC from FCS or the MAC who's proven the ability to run a quality offense could still come in and improve upon what currently exists...even if their name isn't inspiring. The sad thing is that Brian reached such levels of ineptitude that you could probably get away with giving some D2 coach $500k and still see a decent amount of improvement.
