In all reality Lester would probably end up being a decent hire. But we all get to be pissed off about something until September. Grinding our teeth over out of context quotes on Twitter, etc. It’s going to be a blast.
I’m choosing to be joyful that our long national nightmare of Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz is over.

I’d prefer Johns but the Lester stuff is way over the top. He had some great offenses at WMU and would likely be bringing in several new concepts. I don’t think the gap between the two is anywhere near what it’s being made out to be.
I think it’s more because of how adamant Ol Dougie was yesterday in chat that it was Johns.

I’m still pissed at his guarantees that Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz would leave at the end of the 22/23 season!

That’s what all angst about this decision comes down to.
No the angst about this decision is Kirk appears to be hiring an OC that has 2 years of OC experience and fours years assistant coach experience in major college football. A coach that has been part of three consecutive staffs that have been fired. He’s about to hire a third consecutive OC that no other power conference school would hire. That this is the person that he would settle on after 100 days and two days of meeting with an actual qualified OC is at minimum concerning.

Another question to ponder, is there an offensive coach on staff that would be hired at any other power conference school? I think the answer is an easy “no”.

Kirk’s son, Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz is going to be a fucking awesome Iowa OC though.

19 points per game and 301 yards per game in his last season as head coach.

OC for a complete failure at Syracuse and QB for the worst coach in 30 years at Purdue. Yep, resume speaks for itself!

Anyone who thinks Lester is another Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz doesn't know what they fuck they're talking about. He's an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach by training, and sees the whole game having been a head coach.

Whoa, I was wrong on something! I’m not even saying Lester would be great. Just that they’re pretty similar and would be bringing a similar offense.

He had 4 good years at WMU before things fell apart good last year. This is from Blair:

Lol, why would you think you have enough information to hazard that guess? You just want to imagine ways to be miserable.

I’m not miserable at all. I’m going off of this information:

RB Coach: High School coach with no other college experience

TE Coach: LB coach from FCS school

O-Line Coach: from the MAC with minimal if any improvement.

WR: Bud. Nothing else to sat

OC: appeared heading to Troy and has only coached for bad P5 staffs.

Further: only two guys in Kirks history have taken promotions on offense. Philbin and Foster. That’s it.

I’m not saying Betts or Hodges aren’t good coaches, but their resumes are not the norm for the top level of college football.

I, also, would rather have ANYONE other than Kirk making this hire. You invented a hypothetical so you could get pissed! about it.

I don’t appear to be the one pissed about. I’m asking a question about the offensive staff that has produced the worst offense in the country back to back years. I wonder how many of those podcast you listen too ask hypothetical questions about topics they discuss?

what the fuck is wrong with you?

2017 Johns was his OC. 2022 was after his second OC left. Also, it’s the freaking MAC.
Right, the year Johns was his OC was the worst of the first five. They improved when Johns left and he took over play calling. Yes it’s the MAC where he also was coaching in the MAC with MAC players.

I don’t think he’d be an amazing hire for this overall process but the idea that he’s the puppet and Johns is a rockstar is crazy. I’d prefer Johns because of his varied stops but they’re more similar than not and they likely pitched similar visions.

One has better social media/YouTube game than the other. Also, consider what you are bitching about if it is Lester.

Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz's resume before being OC:

2008–2010New England Patriots (OQC)
2011New England Patriots (TE)
2012–2014Iowa (OL)
2015–2016Iowa (RGC/OL)

Tim Lester's resume until now:

I mean, you’re clearly just spitballin hypotheticals. Your mind isn’t made up at all, just asking questions.
