Its unfortunate it took it going public to get rid of him, but it's done. Come forth with your lawsuit, get it settled and move the fuck on.

Honestly, if they can still manage to recruit some of this can be better for the program. Some of the doghouse and unprofessionalism from the coaches is as harmful to development as discipline is helpful.

You have to initiate claims for discrimination at the administrative level within 300 days of the date of last alleged act of discrimination or your claims are barred, including any civil suit arising out of those allegations. Personal injury suits, including emotional distress, have to be filed within two years or they are barred. Most of the complaints we've seen are from guys who have been gone well over two years. The program will get cleaned up, but these guys aren't getting shit.

In addition to the report, Husch Blackwell provided the university with four personnel reports related to current and former employees that will be a part of those individuals’ confidential personnel records.

“We have identified the issues, we have and will continue to address personnel matters, and we have started and will continue the needed change in our football program,” says Harreld.

The direction of the Iowa football program and University is clear. Barta and Kirk are staying as is every other current coach. They will move forward per the recommendation of the report. Bruce Harreld is on board. The monitoring and progress updates will be given as they go, but essentially this episode has been wrapped up and is now in the past.

The direction of the national media will be pretty clear. They will focus on the summary, conclusion and recommendation. It will be fairly positive. There might be a few that flop around like a fish out of water but it won't matter.

The local Iowa beat writers are the ones at the crossroad here. A few of them basically went all in on this story. They put out inflammatory shit for weeks, went after Kirk's character, suggested removal to discipline from him to other coaches. Good luck finding an angle here now that the circus has packed up the tents and is moving on.

I do think that it is unlikely that Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz is ever the head coach at Iowa unless they go on a ridiculous winning binge in the next 4-5 years, something like a couple of Big Ten Championships and Top 10 rankings. He will likely be the OC until Kirk retires and then either stay on as the OC or move on to somewhere else.

I don’t want to sound like a little support the Doyle culture. But he was a smart guy who typically backed up his approach with science. A lot of the shit sounds stupid and easy to change, but as mentioned many time we used a military type approach and little things matter in that system. You can’t just take away the little things and expect it to keep working.

If it helps us recruit better, I am all for a total overhaul.

Most of the problems seem to stem from insensitivity and black players feeling they are dropped off in crackerland Iowa and left to fend for themselves. Proper motivation, toughness, and accountability can still be hallmarks of the program's culture. One thing that the NCAA needs to allow for is more interaction with student athletes by their coaches. This would allow for players to not feel so alone half the year.

Also, would keep one person like Doyle held in check and not controlling the reigns as much due to being the only one allowed to interact with them. I get that is on KF to control but outside of season he is probably less plugged in because he has to do more glad-handing and such.
I don't see BF getting head job, especially if fairly soon, like Dougie said would need more time and success to smooth over rough patch. Toughest thing is that he was grooming for it and chose the Doyle motivation path for getting there.

I don't think that follows. It's very likely true that not everything the coaching staff did was necessary, I don't contest that. But being concerned that they might lose something that gave them an edge, doesn't mean you assume everything was necessary. I question if they'll be able to seperate the wheat from the chaff.
