The offenseWhat exactly do you think keeps WR from wanting to come to Iowa?

Who controls the offense?The offense
Defense. Good defense.Who controls the offense?
MasterBlasterWho controls the offense?
Halo negativity? What exactly do you think keeps WR from wanting to come to Iowa?
Honest question, do you consider yourself to be a smart person?Yet people bitch about quarterbacking
Iowa's receiving corps is worse than the quarterback core. Joe Montana had Jerry Rice to throw to.Honest question, do you consider yourself to be a smart person?
*corpsIowa's receiving core is worse than the quarterback core. Joe Montana had Jerry Rice to throw to.
Why you asking me?Who controls the offense?
Because we respect your opinion and value your insightWhy you asking me?
Why you asking me?
“Room”…sure.I think I'm going to start a campaign to get people to stop using "corps" (or "core" if you're a dumbass) and "room" in conversations related to football. Waaaayyyy overused.....and yes, I'm triggered.
Why not?Why you asking me?
All that needs to be said is "linebackers" or "linebacker group." "Corps" is just unnecessary tough-sounding jargon that coaches and broadcasters started and sounds stupid when regular Joes use it.“Room”…sure.
But that’s pretty much a textbook definition use of “corps”
So without Jerry Rice, Joe Montana is Spencer Petras in your example?Iowa's receiving corps is worse than the quarterback core. Joe Montana had Jerry Rice to throw to.
Keep us posted!I think I'm going to start a campaign to get people to stop using "corps" (or "core" if you're a dumbass) and "room" in conversations related to football. Waaaayyyy overused.....and yes, I'm triggered.
This would be neither, bub.Because we respect your opinion and value your insight
No, Garta works for KirkGood point never thought of it that way.
Garta?
No, Garta works for Kirk
It's hard to text and drive*corps
Do we have film of the 8 and 9 lineman formations Illinois used last year?
I thought that was gay
On a scale of 1 to PJ Fleck quarter-zip and tie?I thought that was gay
In 2020 Spencer had two NFL receivers to throw to, and he was just as shitty.Iowa's receiving corps is worse than the quarterback core. Joe Montana had Jerry Rice to throw to.
@CleteyColgateSo without Jerry Rice, Joe Montana is Spencer Petras in your example?
I mean, they both kinda suck so not sure it's worth a debate.Iowa's receiving corps is worse than the quarterback core. Joe Montana had Jerry Rice to throw to.
It’s a combination of course. The OL being bad contributed to the offensive woes but Petras being pretty bad himself didn’t help.I’m actually decently optimistic that Spencer has a breakthrough this year and manages to be at least serviceable.
But perhaps the most annoying possible outcome from this will be the apologists that point to say improvements in the line or in the running game with a “see, it was all the line’s fault!”
I’m still holding out hope that he gets it together. But I’m going to lol at the first dipshit that tries to credit improvements in another area of the offense as the sole reason Spencer was historically awful the last two seasons
Especially when you consider some of our best seasons came while having either mobile QBs or QBs that could at least escape pressure and extend the play a la Drew Tate. 2002, 2004, and 2015 all had those QBs. 2009 is the only outlier but even then Stanzi could at least pick up a first down with his feet.Given our clear inability to attract talented receivers, it’s somewhat surprising to me the staff has never made more athletically dynamic QBs a priority purely in strategic terms of constraining the defense and improving the running game. They aren’t hard to find. Fucking Coastal Carolina has a fantastic one, as did Liberty the last couple years.
