Copeland and his receivers probably fucking hate Spencer, certainly.
90% of the receivers are just happy to be involved. Anyone worth a shit either left or is nursing a phantom injury.

LeVar has a reputation for calling out the incapable
Yeah I took the "not universal within fort kinnick" or whatever to mean that Levar and/or Phil have voiced their opinion. Or Hodge or Bell or Betts or whoever. Like @MikeyJoe has said even if it was Brian it's just as damning as if he is all aboard the spencer train.

Why do you want Iowa players to be cowards? Petras sucks, but he's not faking a fucking injury to avoid booing.
I’d prefer they not be cowards, Clete. Which is one of my biggest gripes against your boy.

The phantom injury stuff is 9/11 truther levels of conspiracy theorizing. Fuck off.

They never talk much about injuries unless there is something certain like a specific bone break or ligament torn. I've seen hints that Keegan is nursing a hamstring injury which makes perfect sense with the stop and go pattern we have seen. It's just an injury with uncertain recovery times.

I also think Petrus is uniquely shitty and unpleasant to watch relative to the prior QB controversy incumbents, with the possible exception of JC. But even he didn’t look this out of place as a Division 1 athlete
Jake attempted 468 passes over 3 years and had a career completion percentage of 55%. His last season his completion percentage was 57% (Spencer's is currently 45%). He also had 21 TDs to 9 INTs and a career passer rating of 118. Meanwhile, Spence has attempted 595 passes and has a career completion percentage of 56%. For his career, Spencer has 19 TDs to 16 INTs and a passer rating of 113. 19 TDs. LOL. Rudock had 16 in his last season and people couldn't wait for him to see the bench.

It's beyond fucked up that the most unpopular QB in Iowa history was actually better than Petras.

So, no, there's no "possible exception." By almost every measure, Jake Christensen was a better QB and he was so terrible that people still invoke his name when discussing the worst Iowa QBs.

I think he was going to go deep against Iowa St. but before he could heave it, he fumbled and Iowa lost possession.
Oh no, he had plenty of time to heave it. He wouldn’t cut it loose and give his receiver a chance because Wick wasn’t wide open. If that ball is intercepted who cares? ISU would have had the ball at their own 2 yard line. Instead he held the ball and got stripped. Every other quarterback would have thrown that ball because you’re supposed to.

Also, to be fair to Spencer, there were 3 plays where he kinda stepped up in the pocket on Saturday including that deep ball he didn’t throw.

He looked extremely uncomfortable doing it, where it appeared his mind was telling him ‘ok they’ve told me to step up, step up’ rather than just natural instinct.

He's so fucking bad. Even on the strip sack, after waiting too long to throw it if he steps up one more step he gets that ball off.

Spencer is bad at every facet of being a QB other than handing the ball off. Who cares if you have a strong arm if you can’t hit your targets reliably

Anybody else remember Daryle Lamonica? Big arm, but had a habit of hitting nothing but turf, if he was lucky. Couldn't read a defense more complex than junior high. Madden finally replaced him with Stabler, who had a smaller arm and was less mobile but was accurate and could read. After that the Raiders became the Madden Raiders of the 70s.

Brian, the meat headed retarded OC that he is, at least seems like he wants Padilla. It seems to me that he's completely catering to Petras pants shitting. Rolling him out to stay away from pressure even though he's the LEAST mobile qb in the country. Taking ZERO shots downfield. Quick 4 yard hitters that Petras can't complete. I think he understands if there's any pressure at all, Petras will shit himself.

This is not an endorsement of Brian. Huge indictment of KF's arrogance and stubbornness.
I mean, not to go all Kirk defending Petras here, but I genuinely don't know how you evaluate the last three years of offensive play calling when the head guy insists on starting a QB that is totally incapable of consistently making even basic plays in-game.

If I were Brian I might have lit myself on fire by now just from trying to find something, anything, that Petras can do and begging Kirk to start literally anyone else.

I don’t think Meathead is quite the insult some of you think it is. It literally describes 99% of current and former football coaches.

I'm going to say something bold. Thinking a WR is being overly cautious with an injury because the offense is a dumpster fire, is not like being a 9/11 truther.
I don't think anyone thinks he's faking it. The suggestion that he is actually hurt yet evaluating the current cost:benefit ratio in pushing himself to get back on the field does not seem particularly insane.

I'm going to keep saying it: No one with actual job prospects elsewhere or who wasn't working for the family business would tolerate three years of it if this was really true.

Jake Christensen, while shitty, had a season where he had a 17/6 TD/INT ratio.

Spencer could never sniff that.

We are in a whole new realm of abysmal here

I think he's faking it and so does Gavin Williams.

there is no excel function that quantifies how different it is working with a family member, and we are all suffering because of it.

Spencer has already dropped below Christensen in terms of career averages. If we're just considering 2022 Spencer, should this trend continue there is no comp. We're talking CFB historically bad, not just Iowa historically bad.

Kakert essentially said he was sitting out due to non-injury related issues.

There's more going on behind the scenes than most know on this one.
