Phrasing it that way would make me say no, I don't think Kirk is doing things to spite the fanbase. But do I believe it's possible that stubborness or pride or whatever from all of the criticism he's receiving is impacting Kirk's decision making? Yeah, I do. And then ultimately, if the end result is non optimal decisions, does it matter whether or not its specifically spiteful?

It was also 1:15 in the morning and not a single person in that stadium cared about being there anymore. Iowa threw one pass the last 9 minutes which is when the starters were all pulled. Between the 2 teams, there were only 16 offensive plays, 12 of them were runs in that timeframe. Of the 4 pass plays, 3 were on 3rd down.

There were 6 people and a random dog in the stands at the point with tens of people watching on TV. The last thing Kirk was worried about was those people seeing Padilla attempt 1 pass.

The biggest takeaway from watching that was how much more energy the skill guys have with Padilla in. They, especially LaPorta, look like they’re simply going through the motions with Spencer. Apathy it seems, isn’t exclusive to fans
