If Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz is coaching the Iowa Hawkeyes Men's Football team for the 2023 season, @Cheer 4 the Hawks! is getting a permaban.
I realize it’s not that big of a stretch to make this prediction, but I’m putting it out there. And you bet, if I’m wrong, I’ll leave. If I’m right? Well, then a lot of you can gfy…

Where does KF have BF go from here though? Everyone knew Kirk's main retirement goal was to set Brian up for (at least) a path to a HC position.

We also know how Kirk is dedicated to his QBs, let alone his sons.

He will go down with the ship to try and get Brian out of this hole to give him as good of an opportunity as he can.

There were 4 or 5 tweets similar to that one I saw yesterday. It could have all been tied to the Levar stuff, just seemed odd. Then someone posts in here that Brian won’t be back next year from what they’ve been told.

2017 first year starter Nate Stanley had crackers Easley and Vandeberg at WR and unproven underclassmen Fant and Hockenson at TE. Wadley was RB.

Easley was by far the most consistent receiver. Fant and Hockenson collectively averaged 4 catches per game.

Team averaged over 28 ppg. Stanley went 26 TD, 6 INTs for the season.

With Easley. And Vandeberg.

Yeah, I'm not buying it. They won't even change out the worst QB in the country for a single snap, but after Game 3 suddenly every single insider knows that Brian is gone for sure and all this other stuff is a lock to happen?

Smells like overreactive bullshit.

Not that this is going to happen, but what happens if Iowa beats Rutgers 35-7 this week and then pulls off the shocker against Michigan and is sitting at 4-1 and ranked in the Top 25?

"in a year or two."

That really gets the blood flowing.

Recruiting this year is completely ruined on the offensive side of the ball. It will only get worse.

lol they could do that exact last sentence and half the AP voters wouldn’t even bat an eye at leaving them out.

Rewatching the games from last week. My God the Big Ten West is atrocious.

Northwestern is horrendous, yet probably 50/50 (as always) to beat Iowa.

Minnesota isn't good either, but clearly the shiniest turd.

Right, it’s likely bullshit, similar to anytime a coach has a rough start to a season and people hear rumors. These people likely know nothing.

But it wouldn’t shock me if Kirk looks at college football as a whole, and decides it’s time. After this year? Probably not, but I have a hard time seeing him lasting much more than 3 years.

Kirk has no other hobbies. He sees his family all the time. He really has no reason to retire

Sounds like from where? From who? Why right now?

Again, they won't even take the shit QB out for a snap, but on Sept. 22nd and 3 games into the season word is picking up Brian, son of Kirk Ferentz, is gone?

Makes zero fucking sense.

Kirk retiring so he doesn’t have to tell Garta to fire Brian. Levar can do that

I don't think, nor do I want ,this to be the end of Kirk.

That being said, making a change after this season or next could maybe force Garta's hand with the NIL stuff. As long as they don't just promote within, I would imagine the next guy would want Iowa to get it together with the collective bullshit before signing on.

Again, everyone should really watch and see how this actually plays out. Except for seasons with insane injury, Kirk has never had a fully tanked season. This year feels like it could be headed towards a 6-6 or 7-5 type year. Iowa is somewhat due for one of those.

With that said, and can't believe I am saying this, but the defense is so damn good that if the offense manages even mediocrity they are going to win a lot of games.

There isn't a game on Iowa's schedule that is unwinnable outside of Ohio State on the road.

I'm still on the 7-5 train, but also wouldn't shock me to see them pull 9 wins out of their ass.

I can't say too much because my source might be on this board, but I feel comfortable with what I have been told. Comfortable enough to go on record.
Are you my buddies neighbor who thinks BF is going to be the OC for the Patriots next year?

No matter what, the dream for Kirk that Brian would be groomed to take over as the head coach someday is dead. If they do want to extend out working together, there is really a small path forward that doesn't end in disaster for them....

- Don't tank this season. Win at least 7 or 8 games.
- If Brian stays at OC, then they have to likely change up the coaches under him and take away his QB coach role. Perhaps hire a passing game coordinator or run game coordinator.
- If Brian really wants to stay, he gives up his OC role and takes a demotion to OL or TE coach.

I would take any combination of a) demotion, b) Brian leaves or c) Kirk retires and hands the program over to Mark Stoops or d) Kirk retires and hire Jerry Montgomery as the Head Coach and Lavar as OC with Phil as DC.

I always thought NIL might be the thing that ran him out. The job of a head coach is completely different than it was 5 years ago. Nearly all the new “duties” are things I’m positive that Kirk hates with a passion
