Iowa's offense is complex. Takes timing, rhythm, reading defenses, footwork AND it has a lot of different schemes, says guy who reads his plays from a 3x5 index card on the sideline.

Also, Bri Bri, the defense knows what you're doing before you do.

What an arrogant, retarded fucking asshole.

I am glad that my college football pod hosts recognize how much being an Iowa fan sucks right now. Some comfort in that. Elite special teams and defense, dismal offense. Just fucking ridiculous.

Besides the part where he mentioned how well the offense does Sunday through Friday, my favorite part was when he listed about 8 things that needed to improve and very last on the list was QB play (“throw the ball better”).

There may have been better stuff after this but I became too enraged, disgusted and uncomfortable to continue listening.

Based on comments from yesterday and historically, at best Kirk and Co view explosive offensive plays as an afterthought. At worst they actually see them as undesirable. Unfortunately I think the truth may be closer to the latter.

I think all of Iowa's quarterbacks suck and the coaches are a part of that problem. But make the fucking change. Praise Kirk for starting Petras and he'll probably put in Padilla.

Brian talked about possessing the football, but then exclusively mentioned turnovers. The fact of the matter is, with this offense, a sack is a turnover. If possession of the football is the goal you have to play the QB best suited to avoid sacks. Period.

There's probably a lot of truth in that. Brian's father, Kirk Ferentz, has become nothing more than a contrarian.

When Brian's father, Kirk Ferentz, has a feeling that you're not 100% invested, you should probably transfer immediately because he will never change his mind. It would also be a decent idea for Brian's father, Kirk Ferentz, to tell that player so he's not needlessly using a scholarship for a position group of 4 which just happens to be the most important position in all of sports.

At some point opposing coaches should be rediculed for losing to Iowa. If you can't put together a plan to stop the worst offense, knowing exactly what they are going to do, then you should be fired.

I picture opposing DC's like this guy...

You remember the scene in the movie where they are looking at the "coaching for dummies" book and giggling as the pound the Muddogs in the first half? Yea, that's how I picture opposing DC's. Someone better at it than me make that gif.
Where are we on this? Who is the gif guy?

@StinkyMcFadden who did the quantum leap gif

I liked the part where he was babbling about not making a change for the sake of change and starting the season with a group of guys that are all in it together and changes should come after the season.

Hey buttered bread head, the "group of guys" probably want to fucking win with a different QB. You're fucking them all over with Petras and your shitty play calling. The WRs probably want to, you know, have a chance to catch passes. The RBs and OL would probably like to, you know, not stare at stacked boxes all game. And the defense hates your guts.

Make no mistake, Brian is out of his mind at this point. This fucking blows. To be clear, this does a great job of breaking down some HUGE offensive, and Brian issues.
I liked the point they made about the quarterbacks as a group. For Padilla to hear there is no upside really drives home the zero faith in him. It’s Deuce Hogan all over again. May as well stay home. As for Labas, if he hasn’t closed the gap he should probably give up. Spence seems to have regressed, so if the gap is the same, Labas must have regressed as well.

100% this.

They are making it very clear that Padilla will never see the field other than in the case of an injury to Petras.

Petras literally cannot perform badly enough to get benched.

Disagree. Biggest shitshows are the games.
I’m just trying to imagine how bad/comical it looks when Padilla and Labas get practice snaps. It has to be some real JV Girls BBall looking shit.

Isn’t the best case scenario this though? Petras doesn’t come back for his Covid year. Padilla and Labas are tired of getting shit on and blocked and transfer. So Iowa ends up with a completely new QB depth chart next year. At that point they would have to take one or two transfers.

And they would STILL fuck up. What if the only transfer QBs available are black?

Sounds awful. It takes two to three years to learn the offense.

On the other hand, it might be better to have a QB that has no idea how this offense is supposed to function.

To be fair, we don’t know what’s going on in practice.

It has to be the biggest shitshow imaginable.
It’s the easiest thing possible to excuse, “of course the offense doesn’t look great, the defense is awesome.”
Then just point to practice for all your reasoning to keep things the same while in games the offense clearly blows. It really sucks.

Reminds me of practice when I was a lad. In practice play gets blown up by a guy. Coach says that guy will get fooled by motion in the game. In the game, play gets blown up by 2-3 guys.

I have read Spencer is moving on after the season. However, if Iowa doesn't get a transfer portal QB, is there a plausible scenario Spencer is back for a COVID year? A we struck out and we need the band back together one more time kind of scenario. Please tell me it's not possible! Six weeks I don't like it but I can live with it knowing the end is near....tack on another year and I'm completely out, never coming back.

If that were to happen, the over / under is set on 30,000 fans in Kinnick next year.

How committed is he to the Sunday through Friday grind though? Performing in games alone isn’t going to be enough to cut it in big time college football.
See that's even more insulting. Are you telling me this guy that graduated high school with a perfect GPA, very high SAT scores, that's going to medical school isn't showing up for things or being late or struggling to comprehend? Give me a fucking break

Imagine this being your favorite sport. Like you look forward to it all year, these twelve measly Saturdays, and the people in charge are just like nah, we're going to fuck it up. We like it this way. Certainly.

The only guarantee is that things will play out in the most astoundingly fucked up retarded nonsensical way possible.

In that situation, Kirk's first recruiting visit would be to Petras.

Don't want to be naive but Padilla is seemingly doing a non joke major, transferring might not be a no brainer for him.

I booed so hard during the ISU game I lost my voice for a week. I was made out to be the bad guy by the majority of the fans in my area.

Fuck ‘em. I’ve done my part. Not spending another dime to watch Spencer Petras. The rest of those non-tavern faggots get what they deserve.

Yep. Fucking sucks. This is the least amount of CFB I’ve watched in many years. The IL game was the first Iowa game I actually watched all the way through. No plans to watch OSU. Have tickets to two more games I don’t want to go to but probably can’t even get anything for the tickets

For the first time in my life I am extremely thankful to be invited to a wedding on a college football Saturday.
