Nebrantska is a bad football team…but they’re gonna put up 17-24 pointsI’m having a really hard time seeing Iowa beating either of those teams at this juncture.
You have to feel for him playing for such a loser program.Purdue with that abysmal 5-2 record after putting 600 yards up against Nebrantska. Poor Charlie.
He has nineYou have to feel for him playing for such a loser program.
He only has 8 TDs this year, I think.
Can you imagine?
How was his blocking? He has nine
Why would you have him block? How was his blocking?
A few of us saw that on the first night of the season vs Penn State. It’s getting harder and harder to blame him for wanting to get away from this shit show
Me too.I hope he catches 4 TDs….sprints to the Iowa sideline each time and spikes a ball in Brian’s, Kirks, Spencer, and Garth’s faces
While yelling, "There's your upside, you stupid POS!".I hope he catches a TD….sprints to the Iowa sideline and spikes a ball in Brian’s face
By this I hope you mean he literally uses Brian’s face to spike the ball off of.I hope he catches a TD….sprints to the Iowa sideline and spikes a ball in Brian’s face
Because Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz doesn’t like this. Also, and maybe someone here can explain this to me, but our defense personnel development and strength and conditioning looks better than ever.
But then why is our OL development suddenly mediocre?
We used to take 6'3," 215 lb TEs from H4L's backyard bbq and turn them into 300 lb grinders. Why did that stop all of a sudden?
Those neighborhoods HATED eachother?Because Kirk’s son, Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz doesn’t like this.
I hate Brian because his scheme has no rhyme or reason to it. Nothing sets up anything else. Play action is a joke, and formation dictates plays. I’ve NOTHING wrong with having a fullback and grinding teams down. I appreciate it, but do it well within a coordinated structure that’s efficient and not predictable. And when not being predictable, don’t be dumb as shit. Tennessee ran a shovel pass close to goal off some play action where their qb could keep it, Iowa’s tried that exact play to spectacular failure, because everyone knows to ignore Spencer, Brian’s job is to be aware of that, and to bring in someone who can’t be ignored. THAT is why he sucks so bad.I don't think Brian is some stud coordinator or anything, but as I watch Bert successfully running a very similar offense to what we typically run and wearing defenses down, I can't help but think the "our scheme is too old school" criticisms are misguided.
Our offense scored enough points to win with Nate at QB.
The problem is personnel related, not scheme related. And we've had bad receivers and still been able to move the ball.
It's Petras. Nothing else.
is it the same scheme? I’m not good at reading line play but I assumed the Illini were running heavy gap blocking like the badgers did under his coaching vs our primarily zone blocking scheme.I don't think Brian is some stud coordinator or anything, but as I watch Bert successfully running a very similar offense to what we typically run and wearing defenses down, I can't help but think the "our scheme is too old school" criticisms are misguided.

Bert knows how to keep defenses honest so the grind-em-up can work. BF hasn't a clue.I don't think Brian is some stud coordinator or anything, but as I watch Bert successfully running a very similar offense to what we typically run and wearing defenses down, I can't help but think the "our scheme is too old school" criticisms are misguided.

The OL is shit too my man. Smallest, weakest OL in AmericaI don't think Brian is some stud coordinator or anything, but as I watch Bert successfully running a very similar offense to what we typically run and wearing defenses down, I can't help but think the "our scheme is too old school" criticisms are misguided.

I mentioned that issue in the next post. The OL is shit too my man. Smallest, weakest OL in America
Some of it is dumb luck with injuries, but they've had two classes worth of misses in OL recruiting.
And the worst part is the five that are playing most of the time have little upside, as good as they’ll be right now.I mentioned that issue in the next post.
To be successful with our yearly skill position personnel, we absolutely must have a top 4 OL in the Big Ten.
We've had that for many years. That is no longer the case.
It seems like they have been trying to figure out how to make the run game work with the modern rules and don’t know what characteristics and abilities they are looking for in players. The defense knows what it is, the offense is lost. Also, and maybe someone here can explain this to me, but our defense personnel development and strength and conditioning looks better than ever.

They are almost exclusively a zone running scheme. They have a better line and scheme the pass game better.is it the same scheme? I’m not good at reading line play but I assumed the Illini were running heavy gap blocking like the badgers did under his coaching vs our primarily zone blocking scheme.
This won’t be popular. I’d add very young OL as well.I don't think Brian is some stud coordinator or anything, but as I watch Bert successfully running a very similar offense to what we typically run and wearing defenses down, I can't help but think the "our scheme is too old school" criticisms are misguided.

I don’t think it’s suddenly gotten mediocre. We’ve had absolutely studs on the OL very recently. Also, and maybe someone here can explain this to me, but our defense personnel development and strength and conditioning looks better than ever.

Rolling up Peaches in a news paper and throwing him out of a moving car window would make the offense immediately better. I agree.I don't think Brian is some stud coordinator or anything, but as I watch Bert successfully running a very similar offense to what we typically run and wearing defenses down, I can't help but think the "our scheme is too old school" criticisms are misguided.

I read this ^^ part and thought "oh boy, maybe we have a rumor of a QB change."Again, all the poster pretending to be insiders on HawkeyeReport have been wrong when it comes to the QB situation, so take with a grain of salt.
Then I read this ^^ part.Long story short, this guy's kid was at a baseball showcase with current Iowa pitchers. They were talking about how much Brecht dislikes Brian and how much the players dislike playing for him. They also mentioned Brian is very much against a QB change.
I would be shocked if there was a WR that didn't hate playing for Brian. Maybe get 1 target a game with his shit offenseAgain, all the poster pretending to be insiders on HawkeyeReport have been wrong when it comes to the QB situation, so take with a grain of salt.

Now, is this something a WR would really know (I doubt Brian would openly go against his dad to the players), let alone a couple of guys that play baseball with said WR.
But I bet the players hate Brian. His demand perfection bullshit doesn't work when you are an incompetent entitled dipshit.
Monte has a 30% hit rate in the blocking game, but gets more touches than the WR. FUCK.I would be shocked if there was a WR that didn't hate playing for Brian. Maybe get 1 target a game with his shit offense
Brian’s biggest problem is this scheme is just plays but not a system. He thinks QB mobility is a gimmick instead of a way to help the run game by making the defense account for all 6 skill players. He treats counter andWR runs as trick plays instead of a way to punish teams who crash the outside run. They have formations that they run minimal variety out of. Now and then they’ll run something that was great play design, but they’ll also run something unusual that they looked like they aped from someone else (like rye RPO v Illinois or the two back shotgun they ran some in 2019) but then only implement 60% of it so it doesn’t work without perfect execution.I hate Brian because his scheme has no rhyme or reason to it. Nothing sets up anything else. Play action is a joke, and formation dictates plays. I’ve NOTHING wrong with having a fullback and grinding teams down. Then my pipe never going to happen dream is you pick up the phone and ask Yanda if he wants a job. I'm assuming he's probably happy doing nothing though and may not want the headaches. The o-line coach will be sacrificed at seasons end so we can say we made an off-season change, that will be the extent of it
I can see some of the reasons why Linderbaum is the stud he is/was as I sat behind his Father at church yesterday. Father is a large man's man.I don’t think it’s suddenly gotten mediocre. We’ve had absolutely studs on the OL very recently.
Recruiting misses and injuries has created a temporary weak point. The OL will be fine but right now it’s B-A-D.
Huh? Lol no.I can see some of the reasons why Linderbaum is the stud he is/was as I sat behind his Father at church yesterday. Father is a large man's man.
Unless that was sarcasmHuh? Lol no.
Why? Has he had success coaching an OL?Then my pipe never going to happen dream is you pick up the phone and ask Yanda if he wants a job. I'm assuming he's probably happy doing nothing though and may not want the headaches.
No, not sarcasm. Just from my perspective at the moment and perhaps comparable to those around him including me.Unless that was sarcasm
I'd accept the risk on that oneWhy? Has he had success coaching an OL?
He’s like 5’10No, not sarcasm. Just from my perspective at the moment and perhaps comparable to those around him including me.
Ok, this was a different guy clearly. I just looked up the picture online and was not the guy I saw. Maybe an uncle or something? He’s like 5’10
