QB play is not the only problem, but so much of this could have been avoided if they he’d gently directed Petras and/or Padilla to grad school options and brought in a JUCO or portal option and had a competition with them and Labas. The results would have been the same at worse and you’d lift the pressure of doing nothing.

What a stupid way to lose the fanbase.

Q: Offense feel like they're letting defense down.

KF: That's football. I better qualify that when I say it. You never know how things are going to shake out game to game or season to season.
When you stick with the worst QB and OC in the country anyone with a functional brain knows exactly how things are going to shake out.

It was unfortunately never a possibility because he loves Petras and Kirk is very sensitive (case in point, his response to an article in a different media market that most casual Iowa fans probably don’t even know exists).

Petras represents everything Kirk likes in a young man. He’s punctual, “works hard”, has a haircut you could set your watch to and admits accountability when he fucks up. Unfortunately Kirk seems to be forgetting part of being accountable is sometimes paying a price, like say not being the starting QB anymore.

Also It wouldn’t surprise me if Kirk feels like he got backed into a corner benching Rudock (who was 397% better than Peaches) and never wants to feel that way again.

Why does he think they are going to get there eventually and where is there? The end zone? Not dead fucking last offensively?

The answer was unfortunate but look, he’s responding in a manner that was addressing the OSU reporter who was obviously fed the stuff to ask by Iowa beat writers. He snapped back. There have been worse offenses.

He definitely looks at having 8 underclassman starting on offense and thinks it’ll eventually work itself out. The problem is you shouldn’t be in a position to start 8 underclassman.

2020 offensive recruits:
Nico Ragaini-starter
Spencer Petras-bad
Calvin Lockett-gone
Jack Plumb-bad
Cody Ince-retired
Samson Evan-was so bad he didn’t get invited to camp
Tyrone Tracy Jr.-gone
Henry Geil-gone
Jeff Jenkins-gone
Mekhi Sargent-graduated

2019 offensive recruits:
Shad Byrd-gone
Sam LaPorta- senior starter
Josiah Miamen-gone
Tyler Goodson-early entry
Justin Britt-injured/out for season
Alex Padilla-listed as an OR on depth chart
Desmond Hutson-gone
Noah Fenske-gone
Tyler Endres-not in depth chart
Logan Lee-moved to defensive tackle

Of their 20 offensive recruits from those 2 classes that should make up the junior and senior classes, only 5 are on the offensive depth chart. That’s a complete failure in evaluation and retention. Especially when you require ‘perfect execution’ to make a play work.

Not sure he was fed anything. Didn’t he say his wife is a Hawkeye fan and many of his family?

Are we still planning on the Kirk statue? Is that in jeopardy?

His comment was not good, but LOL at the fucking OUTRAGE from Halo and others.

Sports reporters are fucking giant douchebags and these are the same guys that tried to take him down a couple years ago giving comfort and spreading lies about the Wadley/Robert T. Green shit.

Of course he fucking is going to light them up at this point. They deserve to be lit up.

They aren't bad in the scandalous sense. They are bad in the what-a-petty-and-small-man-you've-revealed-yourself-to-be sense.
Fuck that. All of the guys except for one in that room were right there sucking off Wadley and his mom and others trying to cut their pound of flesh and doing zero actual reporting.

Kirk is being an old stubborn asshole, but spare me the victim card for the reporters.

here is who new chick AD hired at ball state :

Since her arrival, the chick AD has hired new coaches in men's basketball (Michael Lewis, 2022), field hockey (Caitlin Walsh, 2022), women's golf (Cameron Andry, 2022), men's volleyball (Donan Cruz, 2021), softball (Lacy Schurr, 2021), track & field/cross-country (Adrian Wheatley, 2021), soccer (Josh Rife, 2019) and swimming & diving (J. Agnew, 2018).

I don't know shit about most of those people . Lewis was the biggest hire, and had no prior HC experience.
then again, it's ball state...

Most of us would be rubbing ourselves raw if Kirk said that shit during a “good” year.

Weird hot take. Lesmersines questions were not out of bounds. Just tough. Head coach should be able to answer w/o going ad hominem.
Right. The guy he baselessly called a big fat loser did nothing but ask questions and write about inconvenient facts. Trash Howe directly if that’s your true target.

You mean the one guy he was a complete snarky prick to during the illinois presser?

Yep. Again, Kirk is being an asshole here.

I'm just saying LOL to the OUTRAGE!! about shitting on these worthless fucking reporters. I'm damn sure not going to cry for them.
I think the “outrage” is because he went into an unprompted rant about a reporter who asked legitimate questions, not for any of the other fluffers In the room.

All this proves is Kirk would never cut it at a bigger program or in the NFL having to answer questions. We all pretty much knew that, but man, it makes him look old, bitter and petty.

The reality is that this is all Kirk's fault. He thought he could outthink the system. He thought he could just stay the course and it would work out for him and the ball would bounce his way like it did in 2021.

He fucked up, and worst of all, it could have been completely avoided by just switching out the worst QB in college football. They would be 5-2 and he would still be catching some shit, but well on his way to 9 or 10 wins and another Big Ten West Championship.

They had 2 years of evidence Spencer sucked and they ignored it. That's on him.

The only two reporters he’s snapped on/thrown a fit about are Eickholt (an ardent defender since he started) for asking a legit question about mid season switch on the staff and an unaffiliated reporter for asking legit questions. It says a lot more about Kirk than those two.
