Fuck that. All of the guys except for one in that room were right there sucking off Wadley and his mom and others trying to cut their pound of flesh and doing zero actual reporting.

Kirk is being an old stubborn asshole, but spare me the victim card for the reporters.
Fuck the reporters. I don't give a shit about the reporters. I'm talking about a man who makes five million dollars per year, and then mocks a workaday man who calls him out on something that is perfectly reasonable (not to mention unethical, and possibly illegal).

I don't give a shit about how the reporters feel. I give a shit that Kirk Ferentz has revealed himself to be a petty asshole.

Doug is the new LWade. This was the one fucking reporter with enough courage to actually do his job and Wade Bader lumps him with all the spineless dumpy fat fucks.

I don't even give a shit about that guy. I assume that guy will be just fine. I just can't stand someone punching down. Especially Kirk Ferentz, who sold me (and many others) on his legendarily High Moral Character for decades. I wore black and gold proudly because I never thought shit like that would ever come out of this program.

Say what you will about Michael Scott, but he would never do that.

Kirk most definitely deserves a statue.
Timing of the erection of said statue is dependent on the length of time he continues down this stubborn, arrogant and most importantly stupid path being pursued. Drag the program down to the depths, said statue may be 10-15 years in the making.

Should have leaned into it and went scorched earth around the room.

"And you.... Harty, you homeless pile of fuck. Just look at yourself. You're wearing flip-flops. To a press conference....and they don't even match? Jesus."
“Howe, or should I say ‘How many jobs have I had’? Are you still doing a podcast with that Iowa State fan site kid, or was it Jon Miller? Oh yeah where’s he at these days, selling propane?”

My biggest concern about everything going on is the potential loss of existing roster talent and a strong recruiting class coming apart at the seams with more defections and loss of probable talent. Kirk stays his course and you begin losing recruits. Kirk decides to retire and you lose important recruits. Not sure what the best middle ground is for salvaging this class.

I think you are taking his comments the wrong way. Pretty sure he meant at least I'm not miserable, and not at least I'm rich as fuck.

There hasn't been a single decommit other than the flaky RB from Florida.

Again, fans freak out way way more than players do. Lol at "salvaging this class" as we stand here today.

Also if you follow a lot of other hires, you often get a boost in recruiting. If Kirk retires and Iowa turns around and hires a Mark Stoops or similar, you are not only going to keep your class in tact but also likely draw in more players as well.

Correct. He isn't making a $$ jab at the guy.

Do you mean Kirk being such a bitch about valid questions a reporter asked? Or people here pointing out they don’t like the little bitch Kirk has become?
The guy took a shot at Kirk, Kirk took a shot back. The horror. In 2002 he talked shit about Jim Rome and refused to go on his show, people applauded him because the team was having success.

We’ve reached the point that people are just pissed about everything he does or says. It’s probably best for everyone if he retires or moves on.

The reality is that this is all Kirk's fault. He thought he could outthink the system. He thought he could just stay the course and it would work out for him and the ball would bounce his way like it did in 2021.

He fucked up, and worst of all, it could have been completely avoided by just switching out the worst QB in college football. They would be 5-2 and he would still be catching some shit, but well on his way to 9 or 10 wins and another Big Ten West Championship.

They had 2 years of evidence Spencer sucked and they ignored it. That's on him.
And even if it didn’t work out, fan patience and appreciation for at least trying something else would have been a lot greater. Tripling down on Spencer was the highest risk decision possible, and he refused to see it and is paying a steep price for it in terms of damage to the program, his reputation and fan goodwill.

There wasn’t a shot taken at Kirk. He’s employed his son at the next highest profile position in the state, pays him a million dollars a year, and he’s been abjectly terrible at his job.

There is no metric for which Brian would qualify to have the job he has except his last name. Iowa, and Kirk, want complimentary football, and Brian’s offense is a lowest quintile offense for his entire OC career. Defense? Top quintile. Offense? Bottom quintile, that’s not complimentary.

THEN Kirk acts like a douche about the question out of the blue. If he was having success it wouldn’t matter as his employment decision would be right, it’s that he’s insisting it’s right when it’s so clearly wrong that gives us the issue.

assuming that he is miserable because he dared ask unpleasant questions about the nepotistic failure that is our offense is almost as bad, imo. it’s just flat dumb.

Let's also be honest that the college football world and world in general has lost its collective fucking mind in the last few years and especially this year.

Go back and look at the progression of the coaching changes threads we have on here every year. It was only a few years ago that any coach getting fired during the season was unprecedented and made heads spin.

Now here we are in 2022 and IowaFan is losing its fucking mind that Kirk Ferentz coming off a 10 win season and Big Ten title game appearance refuses to fire his offensive coordinator in the middle of the season.

Why is that? Because programs right and left are shit canning head coaches, coordinators, assistants and more after a couple of games.

It fucking sucks that Iowa chose to have the worst QB and worst offense in the country, but anyone who thought that Kirk fucking Ferentz was going to fire ANYONE in the middle of a season is the insane one, not him.

With that said, it doesn't matter. College football is now a professional sport and everyone involved is going to treat it as such moving forward and I don't think that is a good thing for Iowa Football. In fact, I think it is really really terrible in about every way. The thing that made us attractive as a program is dying right before our eyes.

Kirk has won 12, 8, 8, 9, 10, 10* and 10 games in the last 7 years. Not good enough. Now everyone wants him and his son gone 2 games into this season.

It fucking sucks.

Sure, but I think you’re misrepresenting that by a bit. It’s called developmental, and it has the 5th most nfl guys or whatever because they average the lowest in recruiting among those top 5 teams. Iowa doesn’t and won’t recruit at the same level as the other teams that put guys in the nfl, yet there iowa is, near the top. That’s development, and iowa is excellent at it.
Or they are better at spotting talent.

In any case it’s not like the great ones come in as stiffs. They are pretty much either good or not and it doesn’t take several years to get them there.

His comment was not good, but LOL at the fucking OUTRAGE from Halo and others.

Sports reporters are fucking giant douchebags and these are the same guys that tried to take him down a couple years ago giving comfort and spreading lies about the Wadley/Robert T. Green shit.

Of course he fucking is going to light them up at this point. They deserve to be lit up.

I hate to break this to all of the spazzes, but whatever the Iowa or national media (the media!) does or doesn’t do, and whatever the coaches do or don’t say during these silly press conferences, has NOTHING to do with what ultimately happens on the field. It never has nor ever will, and it’s not unique to Iowa.

Jeff’s the guy that runs the Eyes on I am a giant douche podcast. He’s basically just a fan that runs a fun podcast out of his basement with his buddy.

I highly doubt what he said on that podcast is true.
He was on the team under both Hayden and Kirk. Not that it gives him any insight now but I also wouldn’t be surprised if he has connections in the program.

I looked at the 2018 coaching changes thread. It was November 14th, 2018 and only 2 coaches had been fired. Kansas (worst program in the country) and Louisville (Bobby Petrino off the field shit).

It's October 25th and in the Big Ten alone there have been 2 head coaches fired, and if fans had their way Kirk Ferentz and Fats Titsgerald would also be gone. There has also been multiple coordinators fired at schools like Indiana, Rutgers, Nebrantska and others.

That fact alone is fucking insane.

Kirk isn't the one who lost his mind. It's us.

It's because of the December early signing period.

Lol @ defending Kirk. He's paid a lot to answer these questions. Fuck him for being a dick head. He's made his bed.
Yeah, nobody is truly defending it. At most I understand, but I am way more LOLing at the OUTRAGE in defense of sports writers that proved to be the most useless sacks of shit the last couple years.

Is anyone defending sports writers? As far as I can tell, we’re giving the the OSU dude credit for asking a couple of legit questions and that’s about it. Kirk got butthurt to the point of bringing it up out of the blue today. That’s about it though. I’m sure as shit not defending any Iowa sports writers.

Yes, the OUTRAGE is in defense of sports writers. No one gives two shits about those idiots.

The response is typical Kirk. Arrogant, stubborn, dig-in-the-heels with the snort. Plays well when you‘re winning and even worse when you’re losing, especially with the most offensive offense in the country led by your meathead son.

Great PR Kirk. Solid. Really playing to the crowd.

I'm not obsessed with the won-loss record, although I would prefer to win. I buy my season tickets and give my I-club donation because I want to support a program that is trying to be the best, and I can enjoy going to an entertaining game. At this point, the game is not enjoyable to watch. I'm not interested in enriching Brian because he's Kirk's son. Give me a good/fun product on the field, and I'm fine. Make me watch an offense that has no idea what they are doing, I can find something better to do with my Saturdays.

I still would love for it to work out for Kirk. Not Brian, fuck him, but yes for Kirk.

The catch is he needs to make meaningful changes and I (and most likely anybody for that matter) can’t realistically see him doing that.

Too old, too proud, and too stuck in his ways.

If he somehow sees the light, or rather is forcefully shown the light to the tune of a new offensive coordinator who has full scheme, personnel, and play calling decision making responsibilities…then let’s keep the Kirk train running full steam ahead.
