We won’t lose to Nebrantska. We might lose to Minnesota due to Brian and Spencer. Phil won’t let what happened last year happen again.
Gus, I hate to tell you this, but Iowa has lost TWICE this year in games where they gave up 10 points or less. Twice.

The defense could play nearly lights out, but if the offense has a truly bad (normal) day and the defense and special teams don't score, they can absolutely lose to anyone with a pulse.

Nebrantska is substantially shittier on defense than NW and Purdue and has nothing to play for. I’m generally gloomy when it comes to Iowa’s ability to shit the bed, but not this one.

We match up well with Nebrantska and hopefully we’re healthy on the OL again in 2 weeks. Nebrantska’s LBs are nowhere near as stout or aggressive as Wisconsin’s either. I think we can run on those guys if healthy up front.

Minnesota is going to be a tough one. Our defense can stop them but they’ve been pretty strong defensively the past three games, so this game scares me. If Plumb and Stephens are both out, we could be in for a long day.

We’re not exactly deep with experienced OL players, so yea, especially with Dunker out. DeJong might be worse than Plumb, who was facing an absolute unit in Herbig all day. At least Elsbury got some playing time, he needs it.
The lack of Elsbury is confusing. He looked like one of the few bright spots in the first half of the season

If Iowa can win Saturday it will be the first time Iowa will play in Kinnick with a chance to clinch the division.

Heck, look at yesterday. The defense only allowed 10 but thankfully also scored a TD, and the ST set up an incredibly short field for another TD.

The offense is historically bad. They are absolutely capable of losing any game.

Yes but Wisconsin had control of the West heading into their game.

They clinched a share last year though. And they acknowledged the share.

SP+ sort of sucks ass, though, in terms of Iowa specifically. I feel like that formula has Iowa 2-3 losses higher than reality every year.

not to give the offense a complete pass...but Iowa has played(last time I czeched) four or five of the top ten defenses(statistically) in the country. When you have a quarterback less mobile than blue shirt Beebs and an oline that couldnt block me, it would be hard for any offensive coordinator to succeed. Iowa will win their next two games, win the West and Brian will be back. Write it down.

Iowa always sucks at YPP which in theory is the best long term indicator of offensive and defensive success. He doesn’t share the formula, but from how he’s written it seems to make normalization adjustments with special teams and turnovers that Iowa tends to buck. Or it could just be a small sample we notice because it’s Iowa. 2015 was the biggest difference where SP+ had them #42. This year SP+ actually has them ranked #20.

i would like to bring in a different OC but I would find it hard to make a change coming off back to back division titles.

I suspect Brian still tries to move on, but worst case is we actually get to see a new qb. I am curious what our offense would look like if our defense was average. The two shouldn’t be mutually exclusive but we are clearly running an offense designed to keep the defense fresh, although we struggle to make it look that way.

Always good to dunk on the fans after going 14/23 for 94 yards and zero passing TDs, and a fumble.
you have to understand, that even when this season looked, lost the team was united. That’s strong culture. Jack Campbell takes personal offense to criticism of his QB, and the players don’t view success through a personal lens.

They haven’t been great at turnover%, TOP or 3rd down conversions. I don’t mind not going fast, but they don’t have to be so fucking bad.
