In addition to the fact that Kirk isn’t hiring anyone that is going to challenge his philosophy….the candidate pool is going to be small and underwhelming. Most of the more prolific offenses in CFB are vastly different than what Iowa is trying to do.

The single biggest focus at this point though is probably someone that can fix this offensive line. After the last couple years, one has to wonder who was really responsible for Kirk’s reputation as an OLine guru

I saw a Twitter post that said Iowa should hire Michigan's O-line coach as O -coordinator. Harbaugh is a weirdo but he gets it. Tough D, Ground and pound offense. Throw in a QB who can run. Other teams hate playing against that shit, they have to make tackles against guys that are trying to kick their ass.

We had that attitude and formula with Brad Banks for 1 season. Thought Ferentz would get it. Never again I guess

Nothing will be announced until Bridawg’s soft landing has been stuck, which could take weeks if not more. And Garta is of course fine with that because he’s convinced himself he has no other choice.

I have thought about the timing aspect too. The new coordinator move needs to get done asap, but unless Brian already has something lined up I doubt an NFL team is going to announce his hire prior to their season wrapping up. Hopefully he sacks up and resigns with “plans to pursue an opportunity in the NFL.”
