A fifth year Senior getting deer in headlights against Albany is a little worrisome .

When those nerves result in poor performances, it is.
Again, my point is, just because the guy has played a lot of football doesn't mean he isn't going to get overly jacked up for his first game with a new team in front of 70k fans after major surgery. Is that really that difficult to understand?

I don’t get this narrative. He threw for 30 fucking yards after Albany(!) went ahead early in the 2nd qtr
It's not a difficult narrative. He completed 6 of 7 passes to end his time in the game. He clearly had the yips early on and settled down after that.

Don't you know @Monster, all these posters are draining that 15 footer for birdie when it's clutch time.

I get laughing at the overreactions but let’s not pretend that he wasn’t hilariously bad last night.
I have said multiple times he was terrible. The two throws on that first drive back to back missing a wide open TD and then launching a short pass 5 yards over the head of the RB was atrocious.

That 6 of 7 was probably for 18 yards
It wasn't much, but the point it he was at least accurate the rest of the game. Sort of like when we give you a golf clap when you are able to talk to a woman without her throwing up.

Zero people are saying he was good. There are, however, people who are saying he sucks. As in sucks yesterday and in perpetuity. Which is fucking stupid and a classic fan over reaction to one game. Some have already decided he's yet another shitty Iowa qb in the same camp as Cade, Bacon, Petras, etc. Any attempts to present possible reasons why he didn't play well have so far been met with arms folded dipshits harumphing as if they know exactly what MG was experiencing, intimate details of the game plan, etc. The fan pants shitting is annoying as fuck and reminds me why I generally hate sports fans and can only watch games with a handful of humans on this planet.

Speaking of which... @jandj you coming over next weekend to watch Mark Gronowski and the Iowa Hawkeyes kick the dogshit out of ISU?

I’m not getting paid a million dollars to play CFB
Lol of course you aren't. And there's a reason for that. But a smart guy like you understands that money doesn't automatically turn someone into a robot.

Massive improvement from the first 8.

His footwork was much better after Iowa went up 10-7. I’m not even sure if it was really after they went up 10-7 vs after he got tackled once. Early on he was freaking out in the pocket the moment he got the ball.

If he does it again they have to bring in Hank. (Kirk won’t until at least the Indiana game)

Highly-paid professionals aren’t entitled to the same slack for desultory performances as amateurs receive. He’s been paid a lot of money to do a job and he’s begun the task with as dreadful an outing as I’ve ever seen.
I don’t harbor any ill will toward the guy at all but this idea that he somehow “massively” improved his performance isn’t supported by evidence. He completed some short passes for an additional 30 yds w/ his longest throw 10 yds from scrimmage.
He showed not 1 glimpse of ability in that game that suggests he should be a starting QB at this level. Perhaps he’ll turn it around, but he’ll need a Jordan Love-esque resurrection to even be average. Hope he pulls it off for his and the program’s sake

You fucksticks overanalyze everything.

He sucked. He may always suck. He may just have sucked for a game. The next game will clear that right up.
I think this banter wouldn’t be as endless without our good friend monster finger wagging at us.

Is this a new ethos? Didn't you get kicked out of one your girls' softball games a couple years ago?
as a coach. Last I checked, I was not coaching the iowa Hawkeyes, although I would certainly have more than 44 passing yards if I were.

It was one, single game against Albany. Now he needs a "Jordan Love-esque resurrection to even be average".

Do you guys actually say out loud some of this nonsense before you post it? If not, you should.

A classic case of nerves...get the ground game going vs ISU and the rest should take care of itself.

They're going to be geared to stop the run, but guys like Williams or Patterson seem to be well suited for that. Patterson was a big reason why we won in 2023.

The most wins in Big Ten history. QB was runner up for the Heisman Trophy. Multiple drafted QB's. Doak Walker award winners and runner-ups. 14 drafted TE's.
Oh you’re right, Kirk is an above average offensive guy. It’s actually a strength. We’ve been wrong this entire time. Thanks for laying it out!

Yeah, something nobody said.

I did like the "we" as acknowledgement of the text group collective, that was cute.

It almost seemed like some of the qb runs were meant to just get gron hit a few times to settle him down.

I don't know why everyone's bitching for, Gronoski is undefeated as a starter for Iowa.

Article in the DMR today talking about how amped up Gronowski was for the game playing in front of 70k people and really wanting to do well. How it was his dream to play for a big ten school and he got too wound up. Kirk has confidence he'll play better. He recalled a similar situation with Hawkeye legend Drew Tate when Tate was so jacked up to play he hit the wall at halftime and was basically spent. I know all this is completely unacceptable to hardasses like Strat and Ol Peep who totally don't accept someone making that kind of money could possibly display real human qualities, so I'm sure they know Gronowski better than our coach, who sees Gronowski for approximately 60 hrs per week.

Monster absolutely cannot help himself from being this guy. It must be the school administrator in him.
Despite my actions this weekend, I've cut back dramatically on this completely accurate assessment of my personality.
