If Gronowski was that rattled going into his first home game against an FCS school, I can’t wait to see how he’ll perform for his first rivalry game in enemy territory. My expectations are quite low at least

Drew Tate was starting his 1st CFB game against a MAC opponent on a hot, sunny afternoon, and still put up a far better performance than our 24 yr old million dollar man managed against an FCS team coming off a 4-8 season. For that matter, so did Eric McCollum.

That's where I'm at. If he's nervous about the ideal first game, a home game against a crappy fcs team, next week shouldn't be any better.

I had trouble finding mine in my apple wallet even though I am positive everything transferred correctly 2 days early. I also thought there was a bar code or something similar in the past, but the scanner took them in the end.

Article in the DMR today talking about how amped up Gronowski was for the game playing in front of 70k people and really wanting to do well. How it was his dream to play for a big ten school and he got too wound up. Kirk has confidence he'll play better. He recalled a similar situation with Hawkeye legend Drew Tate when Tate was so jacked up to play he hit the wall at halftime and was basically spent. I know all this is completely unacceptable to hardasses like Strat and Ol Peep who totally don't accept someone making that kind of money could possibly display real human qualities, so I'm sure they know Gronowski better than our coach, who sees Gronowski for approximately 60 hrs per week.

A couple things:

1) We will know in 5 days if this was a one time thing. This game didn’t really matter but if he’s not considerably better next week, combined with a terrible first game and an underwhelming fall camp, we are probably right to be concerned
2) MG is not my friend and I don’t care about his human qualities. As a fan of the football team I want to see a quarterback play competently every half decade or so. If the game against Albany was too big for him then perhaps he’s not a suitable Big Ten QB. I’m sure there are 100s of reasons a QB might have a bad game but really none of them matter or should matter to the fans. Results
3) Again, if he comes out and plays great next week and has a good year this game will be forgotten. But watching our QB play the last 7 or so years has been brutal and there was a lot of hope it would turn around this year. I don’t know how you could blame any Iowa fan for being disappointed.

So, I will remain cautiously optimistic for one more game. Hopefully he’ll light up ISU and we will win back the CyHawk. If he sucks again though all criticism is fair.

I added the ticket to my Google Wallet and had the option to show bar code. When the guy scanned mine, I asked how to just hold phone up without scanning barode, and he said it was a single line to my left.
