Correct. His role has been reduced and I’m sure that’s been hard on him, but he absolutely loves being a Hawk and that showed with the videos of the emotion he had after winning. They do not win without him.

He’s a perfect example of the progression most college basketball players go through. Usually abt midway through the sophomore season they start to get it.

That may be part of it but getting extended minutes without being tied to Ulis is bigger IMO. Perkins is a pretty darn good passer and he can create for guys like bohannon and Murray and they give him space to attack. Hard to create for uncapable and unwilling shooters that shrink the floor. Fran should get a ton of credit for that change.

There’s a lot of guys that had a really significant impact on the game today

in a game where Keegan was simply really really good instead of his out of this world self….that was a hell of a team win.

I’m really really excited about seeing Perkins and Kris and how they develop as “the guys” next year.

Mulvey and Jelly gave me hope for next year.

Sandfort with an extremely efficient 10 pts in 15 mins; we knew he could shoot but he’s developing a nice ability to get to the rim.

Connor’s And 1 play came at the absolute PERFECT time late in the game. Someone said he’s a red ass in chat. Couldn’t be more true. There isn’t a single guy on the team that wouldn’t pick him first if they needed a teammate to back them up in a street fight, and he really seems to relish that big brother role. It seems to have had a big effect on some of the younger guys

And Joe T. Single handedly changed that game defensively. He might strangely be the best 5-11” post defender in all of college basketball. He’s so quick and low to the ground; this absolutely uncanny ability to swat the ball out of big guys hands.

Super athletic players like TJD seem to be the worst possible matchup for Rebraca. He held his own ok against the lumbering big bodies today. Against Indiana, it seemed like TJD was a half a body higher than Rebraca on every rebound attempt.

I'm not exaggerating at all. It was the best stretch of defensive plays from a player I have ever seen. It seemed like 9 or 10 times in about seven minutes he had Purdue completely flummoxed.

Watching the 60 minute replay and the possession arrow is on Iowa when the jump ball happens but Purdue got the ball. I think it actually benefited iowa cuz Purdue didn’t score and the next jump ball was in a bigger spot but WTF?

Right around the 3:45 mark things started to go really south for Iowa. Sandfort air mails a pass. Ivey takes it to the rack. Iowa has another shitty offensive possession and Purdue hits a weird 3 that rolls in off the back of the rim.

Then Connor hits that shot and and gets the and 1 that may have saved a huge slide there. Unsung hero of the game with that play at that time.

Speaking of Painter, one of the best moments of the game was the dazed look on his face toward the end, as if he was asking, "What the fuck is happening to us?"
