Not only did their little day turn into open mockery from all corners, not only did we drop kick them out of the top-10, not only did we crush their hopes and dreams, not only was their “best team in school history” demoralized in front of God and country by an Iowa team that wasn’t particularly anticipated, and not only did we win the SIXTH straight…

…but that defense made their program defining quarterback and hot headed dipshit coach quit. Completely crushed the will to compete out of them.

There were so many collapses happening today by the Cyclones it was hard to keep track of all of them.

You all talked a big game....hyped your team all summer long...and then they came out and couldn't do ****. Your Heisman hyped QB crapped all over himself to the point he had to be pulled from the game. Your Heisman hyped RB couldn't be trusted to hold on to ball when someone brushed up against him. Your 1st round TE catches the ball and immediately searches for an excuse to hit the ground.

You guys got a little taste of success last year and rather than understand it takes a lot of breaks for non-elite teams to have that kind of success you acted like it was your birth right to have Top 10 teams going forward for eternity.

You got the big stage....ESPN College Game Day...nationally televised on ABC with their #1 crew calling the game....and showed the country what you all really are. And then the greatest fans in the world bailed early so they could have some more Busch Lights and slink back under the rocks they crawled out from.

Essentially, each and everyone one of you can GFY.

I don’t mean to belabor my point in the ISU bashing thread, but I feel it worth mentioning in this very important thread: since my wife and I met, Iowa has not lost to Iowa State.

For greater context, upon Iowa’s loss in 2014, I bought us four shots of Fireball and we bemoaned the loss. I was immediately attracted to her when she pulled beers out of her purse at Joe’s Place; I am a simple man.

Since that day, we married, had two kids, and have not lost to Iowa State. Paul Rhoad’ had ISU on better trajectory than Coach Matt fucking Campbell.

And we have a real rivalry with Iowa State?

The Penn State Clayborn game was also better.
not to mention the penn State game the year before at home knocking them out of the NC

msu stanzi to mcnutt to stay undefeated has to be up there

Winning at Nebrantska to finish a perfect 12-0 was pretty damn enjoyable

Today’s game is definitely up there, just not sure I could put in ahead of several other big 10 games, thank the lord for Kirk

That wasn’t really even a stress filled win. Was really able to savor it throughout the game.
I hoped we’d win, thought we would win…but didn’t expect us to make them quit and throw in the towel.
In their biggest moment, we got them again.

It has to be frustrating. They moved the ball and the chains far better than we did.

But weirdly on this team that is ok. It feels like the more opportunities this defense has, even as a team moves the ball, eventually one of our back 7 makes a play.

That defense, and Tory is a big part of that, seems to be our best offense this year.

Punting is not a turnover with this team. Punting represents a new opportunity to make a big play.

Nah, they had a broken plays before half that accounted for essentially 70 yards and then Iowa let them have a bunch of yards at the end of the game. Prior to that they didn't do jack shit.

Maybe too early to say this, but other than the QB position, this might be the best Ferentz team we've seen.

If Petras or if we had a QB who was just average, imagine the possibilities with this team.

Spencer's development could determine whether this is a very good team, or a great (all time calibur) team.

Rewatch it. They moved the ball a hell of a lot better than we did, even excluding garbage time.

We had two nice drives in the 2nd Quarter. Other than that we really couldn't do much on offense.

They have a good defense, probably the best defense in the Big 12. Whatever that is worth.

I do think it is way too early.

Honestly, this is the ultimate year to just follow this team week to week and have a blast with it.

Going to Washington D.C. for the game in 2 1/2 weeks, will be at the game in Madison and then at the game in Iowa City when they play Minnesota. Can't wait.

I posted before the game that was hoping this would be a year like I think 2009 or one of the years recently where the defense was scary good and they just knocked nearly every QB they played out of the game.

So far they are 2 for 2. They forced Penniux to be benched and completely broke Purdy mentally and physically forcing him out of the game.

They are a nightmare.

I think my favorite part of the game was Sugar Cubes trotting backwards with this intense look on his face after they drove down and kicked a field goal to go up 3-0.

He's such a fucking poser and mouth breathing dipshit. It was a mini version of "they think they're so fucking smart" from the last game.

Wisconsin and Penn State are who we think they wiill be. Of course we could lose one of those games, but obviously nothing about their offenses appears overly frightening.

The Purdue game concerns me a bit. That should be the toughest challenge for our defense this year. I think we'll win, but we may need 30 points to do so.

The biggest key over the next couple of games is getting the offensive line to give Goodson an opportunity to not be blasted as soon as gets the the line of scrimmage. The running game has to gel and get better. Run blocking has been poor through these first 2 wins.

This is the absolute truth. If that can take care of itself, it’s going to open things up for pants shitter to sit in the pocket and hit some PAs to his tight ends.

The reality is Iowa only needs 3 touchdowns from the offense to likely win or be in every single game. That shouldn’t be a tall task with this defense, but alas.

I think That Schott will be back in the next game or so. that should help on run blocking.

I think the only way that happens is Brian and Petras have to start punishing teams down the field. The blocking isn't bad, it's just that the other team is sending 9 guys into the box almost every play.

Brian also needs to bring back the misdirection. Teams are jumping the play and flowing to the ball. Run that reverse to Tracy that has scored multiple times.

100% this, and getting the passing game to a "better than shitty" level.

In the OL's defense, it has not looked bad IMO considering it was weeks 1 & 2 against two really good defenses, and it's a young OL. Now they get two teams they can push around and work out the kinks, but they have to run the ball better than they did yesterday, even assist a good defense.

I don't know how they fix the passing game, but if it can just get to not being a dumpster fire, this team can win 10/11 games.

Even a returning QB benefits from a cupcake game or two to get in the groove. The next few weeks could do this offense wonders.

If it can be just average, this is a team with a high ceiling.

I'm space whacking and watching the game again, but yeah, hard to run when a decent or even good defensive team is daring you to beat them down the field. Goodson is just running into 2 unblocked guys every play due to pure numbers.

I also love that Brock Purdy is exactly who Iowa fans all knew he was the entire time. He is a pants shitting, noodle armed midget that has been living off inflated stats against shitty teams. Nearly every time he plays an actual defense, he is a diarrhea factory.

The first interception he threw yesterday was hilarious. Hankins actually did his receiver a favor and pulled on his jersey and slowed him down. If he doesn't do that, Hankins intercepts that clean and the receiver is 5 yards downfield further because it was so far under thrown.

His last interception was tipped, but even if it wasn't that was getting picked as he threw it before he even looked and the receiver was double covered. Benson was going to easily pick that off.

I’m not sure the Clones D was even all that good. They stacked the box and crashed every time. Receivers were open, Petras had time, he just doesn’t know how to move in a pocket and keep his eyes downfield.

Looking at the schedule, I'm betting Iowa played the #3 and #4 best defenses they'll play all year in weeks 1 and 2. Penn State and Wisconsin are probably better, but don't see any other defenses early in the year that look good.

Normally the offense isn't challenged like that early, they need to find some consistency in the passing game or it's going to be ashame that they could waste one of Phil's best defenses because they don't know how to execute the forward pass effectively.

Hopefully some garbage time the next couple weeks will allow Padilla some showcase snaps

was glad to see Brian adjust and starting to throw on 1st down after the first 5-6 series.

I will admit, on one 3rd down early when he threw a short incomplete pass, it looked like Greg Davis was back. At least 3 receivers running routes within 3 yards of the LOS

consistency in the passing game will come when the running game improves.
