Been pretty clear all season we are terrible at rebounding, and there is no help coming. The only lineup change conceivably is playing mulvey more which lol.

That call where no Iowa player was close that got called ISU ball then they hit a 3 was huge. That was the best we have looked all year at times tonight. ISU is a good team that hit big shots down the stretch. Hard to be too upset IMO. I like this team and still feel good about them growing as the season goes on.

I'm not reading any of the faggotry I assume is going on.

Owen Freeman played like a giant pussy. Freeman rebounds instead of jerking his head around trying to get a whistle whenever someone brushes against him, and Iowa wins.

Can’t have a 1-15 shooting stretch coming down the homestretch on mostly open shots against any team with a pulse or you’re fucked. Meanwhile, Iowa State shot 83% including several prayers during that period. Hawks will play tough all year. Fran’s figuring out the lineup a bit.

I have no idea why pryce didn’t play. The result that was that other guys were more gassed than needed.

Iowa State with 18 offensive rebounds and +12 overall.

Iowa handled the pressure defensive and double teams better than I thought they would.
They did, which was nice. They stopped penetrating during that dry spell at the end of the game. The difference why ISU had open looks and ours were mostly contested.

Fran trimming the lineup and then not using his timeouts was on point for Fran. Freeman reminded me of me trying to run a 5k when it got to about 5 minutes left in the second half. Letting him get to that point was dumb. Not getting him a rest or even using a timeout for him was even dumber.

He only played 26 minutes. Get your ass in shape, young man.

There isn’t a single older brother on the planet that wouldn’t willingly come out for a breather in favor of their younger brother.

I was agreeing with you. Even Bill Raftery was getting sick of it.
I believe at one point he said, “that’s just bad basketball.”

He said what I felt.

Some of their open looks were due to Iowa’s atrocious defense.
The one where Traore pretended he was going to help on the guy going at Freeman only to end up leaving his guy wide open was peak Fran defense. That guy will never have an easier pass and the shooter will never have a more wide open look.

That’s as good as Iowa can play.

I'm not saying this because it is Iowa State, but have watched them 3 times and what a sad sorry state that college basketball is in that somehow that is the #3 team in the country. 20 years ago they would have been a fringe Top 25 team.

Dix was great. He was clearly exhausted, which is why you can’t play your best players all game in a game with that intensity and pace.

What frustrates me the most is the bigger picture. A game like that where they come out and are absolutely on fire, where they have a chance to steal a big win and then don’t, the effect it has on the tournament resume. For a team that hopefully can be on the bubble, a win tonight (or in the other half dozen games they’ll lose because of Fran) is the difference between being in or out, or being a 6 seed or a 9 or 10. I just want to see tournament success but Fran consistently get out of his own way.

Iowa played really well, and Iowa State is really good. Sandfort is uniquely frustrating.

No, that’s exactly why you’re saying it.
Duke was the #3 KenPom team at the end of 2005

But sure…ISU isn’t anywhere near that team
