So, Heck is likely done unless there is another injury. Outside of the typical fan dream that the 3rd string guy is somehow a stud, I still think Heck is the best of the shitty bunch. Hank looked below average to shitty in all games he played against teams with a pulse. Heck didn't even get a half game against Minnesota.

What has Hank done to earn the longer leash? The one Michigan drive is looking less impressive with each passing week. It won't happen, but Heck should get another chance and Sullivan should be next man in.

I would rather watch Hecklinski play than Brown, no question. But Hecklinski does not have the arm strength to make Iowa a contender for anything. Brown is a pants shitter, which is unfortunate because he has the ability to make any throw. The reality is we are unlikely to have any kind of answer headed into the offseason and there will either be money to spend big on a proven QB in the portal or there won’t. My fear is they run it back with Heck and Hank in 2027

He definitely looks like that shoulder is still bothering him

They should get a guy or two who can run (like Brendan Sullivan), then try to make it work with Jimmy Sullivan or Bessinger..

If we want actual - and somewhat consistently - good QB play within the next 3 years, I think it’s Bessinger or bust. You’ve got to start him next year and live with the growing pains if you think he’s the eventual man. Otherwise, we remain in QB hell for the foreseeable future.

It hurts the eyes to watch either QB. At this point I think you cling to the slight hope that the game slows down for Brown. I don’t think it’s going to happen for a guy in his 4th year of cfb. But you can’t show up to the cfp (in future years) with noodle arm Hecklinski who has to put everything he has into getting the ball 40 yards down the field.

Once you lose game #3 and all remaining cfp hopes are 100% gone, you give Sullivan a go.

Another example of why AI sucks so terribly. Lists 2025 twice, didn't even play Maryland or Ohio State.

In 2025, Iowa beat the dogshit out of Wisconsin after the bye week last year. 37-0.

They lost to Ohio State 35-7 in 2024. They beat Northwestern 10-7 in 2023. Lost 55-10 to Ohio State in 2022. Lost 27-7 to Wisconsin in 2021.
They did have 2 byes last year due to an early Labor Day. But the other was the loss to Oregon.

If that’s the plan, you better start ramping it up with him now. Next year was always supposedly viewed by the coaches as their year to make a run. Good luck with trotting out a guy who has only ever gotten scout team reps. If they get some of Lutmer, Pieper, Lauck back next year I think you portal for a QB.

I have zero interest in Sullivan. I think Brian’s stink is something I can’t ignore.

I’m fine with portaling, if we get a guy like Gronk who isn’t damaged goods.

It’s obvious to everyone they aren’t going any higher without a legit QB. Well, obvious to everyone not named ferentz anyway
If they’re fine with being 7-5 to 10-2 sure keep on keeping on

Can’t spend what you don’t have, brother.

Anyone know/recall what we spent on McNamara and Gronowski?

If they’re truly in that position then they have a very poor future ahead in short order probably

Not sure what to think about QB, but what I find most perplexing is how they can't get a running back that anybody else wanted. Moulton, Williams, McNeil.....none of them had any better offers than the MAC. How is that even possible? Iowa regularly puts offensive lineman in the NFL and can't even get one RB that had at least an ACC or Big 12 offer? It almost seems intentional.

We don’t play these scumbags the next couple years either so they get to hold on to Floyd for a while. Wouldn’t mind if both teams had new head coaches the next time they play each other. Kirk because he’s retired, PJ because he’s dead.

The last schedule I looked at had us playing Minnesota the next two years.

For the record, I thought the announcers said we don’t play again until 2030. That’s where I got false info.

My understanding is that they were talking about Minnesota and Michigan not playing until 2030.
They were talking about Michigan but said Floyd would stay with the winner of this game until 2030. They were a shitty announcing pair.
