It was great having that big oaf Ross Tucker in the booth. His Gronowski Plowski calls were terrific.
He’s kind of a goofball but he’s pretty astute, especially with interior play.
I also liked how he sounded genuinely sad when Gronowski looked hurt. “Oh no. Awww man, he slid and he still got hurt?”

You never like to see anyone get injured, but it leads to accelerated growth and/or figuring out what you have in the chamber and if it is going to be good enough.

TE development was moved up an entire year, and now there are 2 young guys that Lester can draw plays up for all offseason while also getting Ostrenga back. He didn't use the TE hardly at all last year or early in the season, but near the end of the year he was calling plays to get Vonnahme open.

Even though it was just 2 games, TJ Hall getting hurt allowed Phil to get the young guys on the field and they were kicking ass. Now they know they don't likely have to waste much money at that spot next year.

5 minutes of game tape was enough to know Hank Brown should likely never take another meaningful snap at Iowa again. This year also was enough to see that they either better get the young guys in at LB or they need to hit the portal for a stud transfer.

McNeil getting time today also a big positive, I think he can take the #1 spot next year potentially. Moulton and Williams are nice backs, but they are slow and won't turn those 10 yard runs into touchdowns like McNeil likely can. Jizz is s good kid, but he should probably transfer and start and play a ton somewhere next year. He could do well at a slightly lower spot or a school desperate for a RB.

QB - as much as a lot of us were frustrated by Gronowski and he couldn't pass for shit most of the time, the guy was fucking tough and moved the ball and was actually a flat out winner. He's s tweaked knee and miracle pass by Oregon away from being an all-time legend at Iowa.

I know they don't want to have to go back out and spend on another portal QB, but it's the biggest question mark by far for 2026. I don't know how you can be remotely comfortable going into next season with an untested midget and pants shitting Hank. I'm pretty sure they won't trust the season to redshirt freshman Jimmy Sullivan or the new true freshman from out west.

Feels like they have to at least go window shopping next month and see if there is a high level QB that happens to be interested.

I’m not sure that McNeil has the breakaway speed that would differentiate himself from the other running backs. He does seem like he will be a solid back though. I’m hoping that Iowa finds a 300 lb DT or two in the portal.

I like Moulton. He’s good at getting hit and turning what looks like a 1 yard gain into 3 or 4. Next years offensive line will have a bigger impact on their success than anything.

They need to invest in the defensive line. Allen started playing better by the end of the year. Hopefully Hawthorn takes a step and Epenesa is ready to be an impact player. But even the starters this year were pretty average by Iowa standards. BTN had the 2019 Iowa-Nebrantska game on before the game yesterday, I watched 10 minutes and the number of times that defensive front stopped run plays at 1 yard in that span was more than this line did all year.

A nice NIL deal to get Entringer to come back would be nice though he’s had some injury issues in his career so can’t blame him.

The secondary saved the defense this year. Specifically Nwankpa. Luther was great too. The linebackers were awful. Dline sucked. We've been spoiled.

Chat incorrectly identified Troy Dannen as HaMo.

Was a pretty length convo. I do wonder if Troy was trying to get in a word about the cops on the logo last year. Dannen was apparently irate.

Jadyn Davis at Michigan was highly rated and will never start there.

There’s an FCS guy named Taron Dickens who looks intriguing. Most FCS studs appear to be out of eligibility

Is this really the last Black Friday game for awhile?
No, they just announce the dates of the conference games in between seasons now instead of years ahead of time, like the NFL does with their schedule.

I don't know if it was here or at the other site but some idiot made the same type of post about why are we playing Nebrantska first and why are our last 5 games all road games.
