Lester has done amazing work in just 2 years. Another year and the program may be able to fully shake off the stink of Bri

The most egregious trash talking was the dude who trash talked Moulton immediately after giving up the 32 yard run.
#3 on defense for them was an absolute clown. Took the 15 yarder on the dirty, late, blnd side hit on Williams, yapping after Moulton stiff armed him, jawing after the play all day even when he got bitched.

Also kind of a good representation of him as a QB.
He had a rough start to the season and was pretty awful here and there during the season, but overall he really is a tough son of a bitch and a winner.

It sucks he doesn't have another year left, he really started to look good passing at the end of the season and his running is a game changer.

I want to know who the fat lady in the crowd was with the Hawkeye "I married into this" shirt. What a dumb fucking thing to wear to a bowl game, or any Iowa game.
Weird way to humble brag about your wife

Per the Leistikow group chat

Iowa has confirmed that DJ Vonnahme's 146 yards receiving today are the second-most by a TE in Iowa history. (Only bested by Marv Cook.) Yes, that's in any game.
That's surprisingly low. Would have figured that one of Clark, Hockenson, or Fant would have bested that.

Clark had a god damn 95 yard TD reception against Purdue, yet only had 21 more receiving yards that game (116), which was a career high

Hockenson and fant were competing for catches which had to hurt their chances. Add in Max Cooper and it is damn near impossible

Another shoutout needs to go to Rhys Dakin. probably the best he’s punted all year. I’m probably gonna get @Gushawked but not going back through the thread.
Blair suggesting that Iowa may be having to look for a punter this off-season.

Yep, he ascended in big moments and as the season went in. I really think things would’ve been different if he had a normal spring and summer. He was very accurate today and had answers for all their blitzes.

Tough dude with a rare style.

I'd be excited if we had him back another year, especially given a few of the media guys are talking as if Hecklinski and Brown are now even and they don't know who will win the job next year.

If that is the case, that isn't great. We saw the pants shitting in a limited sample size and know that Brown can't run. Hecklinski is tiny and really have zero clue if he is any good yet.

I get they don't want to go into the portal every year, but it's a big risk rolling into 2026 with those guys as your #1 and #2.

Get another one year QB, and then go with the freshman you are bringing in this coming year after he has a year in the system

This season feels a bit like the stanzi / shonn greene year. I remember them as a pretty good Iowa team but they lost some close games and finished 9-4.

Gronowski might be the best QB to play under ferentz and I hope he has an NFL future. That blind side sack fumble recovery was epic. different season if he doesn't go out during the Indiana game.

I really like how not every pass has to be thrown within 3 yards of the LOS and within 6 inches of the sideline.

3rd and 8? Go ahead and run a 9 yard route. And if at the end of your 9 yard route you find yourselves between the hash marks you can still get the ball. Wild stuff.

Not that this is in doubt but Vonnahme's 51 yard catch on the second drive was so ridiculously athletic. He was 45% of the way to laying out for the catch- it was low and outside. He caught with two hands, but it only took him about .2 seconds to switch to one hand and get his left on the ground to keep his balance.

Not sure I've ever seen a bigger trash talking clown than #3 on Vanderbilt. From the first play of the game. Maybe the nadir (or highlight) is on the flea flicker TD to Vonnahme. He wasn't the guy who got beat in coverage - he was on Vander Zee in the middle of the field and is jawing with him. He then gets in the middle of about 8 Hawkeyes celebrating the TD and starts jawing. Has to be pushed back by multiple officials.

Great game today. Great season. Some big wins and some tough losses. But, that was as much fun as I’ve had watching Iowa Football in several years.
Gronowski gave everything he could. Lester really improved the offense. The players seem loyal to a culture of consistency in a world of yearly transfers. We’re fortunate to enjoy this level of success. Pretty fun.

Being an Iowa FB fan really is sort of a unique experience, even in college fb, largely due to Ferentz's longevity and consistency. We haven't gotten the the number highs we would like. And there is generally one or two subpar units on the team (usually on offense). But other than like 2 years in the past 25, it's been engaging throughout the season. The consistency is incredible and in the past ten years the numbers basically put us in the company of hte elite minus playoff appearances. There numerous good stories most years (often local); guys develop in the program. Even the portal guys here for two or even one years become favorites. Almost no one opt outs for bowls. We can draw parallels being historical teams and trends unavailable to basically any other fanbase. etc. etc.

This team is maddening because they really should have won all four they lost, and let's just say the bounces of chance/ridiculous plays work out to average it's 2 out of 4 wins and a playoff berth . Glad they finally got a ranked a win. It was a hell of team. I thought the defense was going ot take a big step back due to lack of elite players of past years but Phil really is a magician 95% of the time.

End of year Gron playing a full game vs Indiana likely has us in the playoff as well. The slow start, likely due to the surgery recovery, was the only bad mark on his legacy. I will remember him very fondly.

I sure hope Tim is right about Hecklinski.
