The game was mildly entertaining for a half. They they got a lead and tried to run the clock out. A few bad breaks and suddenly you are down a field goal. Get a gift to tie or win and piss down your leg.

Today was a perfect microcosm of the 2024 Iowa Football season. Phil's defense was awful for Iowa standards on the road this year. Lots of soft players.

Tim Lester had 2 of the worst games of the season when it came to short yardage situations. He called 3 terrible plays on 3 different drives, it was rivaled only by his inept play calling and personnel in the first half of the Iowa State game.

Past Iowa teams would have had 2 or 3 interceptions today. The amount of passes off their fingers that fell harmlessly to the ground without an Iowa player close was maddening.

ISU lucks out that opposing QB quits on his team at half and pulls out the late win, Falcons coach turtles up and costs Atlanta a shot at the playoffs, every opposing player in fantasy championship has their best game of the season, and then that turd of a Hawkeye second half capped it all off.

ISU was the perfect mirror for this game, but I thought Lester did fine calling plays in the first half both games. We had bonehead mistakes in the RZ against State that we didn't have against Mizzou, but the first half wasn't the problem. The conservative braindead shit in the second half was, to the point where I'm convinced Kirk took over playcalling in both 2nd halves out of ego or stupidity or something.

There's no way the same playcaller called a solid run pass mix like that in the first halves and then went full Neanderthal in the second halves. Kirk took the keys to prove a point, and he sure as hell proved one.

I’m actually excited about next year. They are bringing a couple COVID guys back but it’s the first time they’ve had a legit roster turnover in awhile.

The defense got too stagnant this year. While the offense still wasn’t great, it at least took a step forward and now they’ll have a full offseason with Lester.
