Time to crown Stank. The operation was more orderly under his hand (perhaps somewhat due to scripting but not entirely), and he missed fewer throws.

Need to be quick with the hook at the first quaff of poopy pants, however.
Still up in the air, IMHO.

Should probably let Sullivan get some more snaps too.

Maybe not a lot to glean from that game, but we did do a very good job of containing their mobile QBs.

Bodes well for our games against Michigan and UDub

There was a time when Northern Illinois was a decent program contending for their conference year after year. I looked up and they were ranked 124 FBS coming into this, so yeah, probably not a good measuring stick by any account.

Xavier is a pretty good RB for breaking camp 4th string. I'm thinking he must be low on the totem pole because he has a neck tat or wears a bandana. Maybe he doesn't tuck in his polos.

Didn't show much today though but 5.8 ypc last year

As even as they are, they might have to go with the one (Brown) that’s gives them a higher probability of executing a QB sneak.

I think the one thing we can glean is the QB battle was truly more even than many of us wanted to believe. The coaches appear, at this point anyway, to be correct.
LOL, no they don't. The entire fucking point is JUST FUCKING PICK ONE OF THEM.

Pick one, give them the reps and if they suck then you yank them. At best, both guys appear even, but not so to the point that they are both so good you can't choose. Each of them is extremely mediocre. So just fucking pick one.

Are you drunk? You're not making sense and didn't address my point at all.

My guess is they did pick one. Today.

In fairness to Heck he had a couple unfortunate drops.

I don't think either of them are bad. They're fine for what we are used to, certainly. Gronowski didn't exactly blow anyone's hair back last year either

Performance.
Lol, that's ridiculous and that's the point. If they were so even you couldn't pick today and then THAT game is what finally makes you decide?

Holy shit they are more retarded than I thought.

Hank was great when his feet were clean. When he got even a little pressure his footwork was bad and then was wildly inaccurate. Hecklinski has a noodle arm but is still calmer under pressure.

They're both mediocre as shit, which is fine for Iowa, and is exactly why they should have just picked one weeks ago. All they have done now is limit the one they were going to start to partial time and less development.

Brilliant, guys. Brilliant.

They both missed some wide open throws. Some of the drops were also bad balls.

IF they had done that by the way, then today is all one of them in the first 2.5 quarters and then the next guy for a quarter and Sullivan in mop up time. Instead it was floppy dick back and forth, which isn't ideal.

Whatever, who gives a fuck. They're mediocre but both better than anything from a few years ago, and those teams won 10 games with Peaches and Bacon Hill. Offensive weapons are significantly better. Running game was great with Moulton, mediocre otherwise. That will clean up and be fine.

Defense looked like an Iowa defense, but need to see the DL stop the run. The LB's and DB's look awesome.

The best and most encouraging thing is that top to bottom this team appears to be salty and loves to hit people. They play really hard in all phases of the game. That alone will win them some games and keep them competitive against everyone.

The defense can run on the backend, and it looks like they will have some pass rush. They will probably be really good defending the pass

RVZ should never, ever return punts. What the fuck was that stupidity? Evan James better be the guy going forward.

Having a 6'5'' punt returner that is known for getting hurt if you breath on him wrong is some insane shit.

Brown looks great when his first read is open. And if it's not, he's going to throw it anyways.

That said, both are warm turds, I'm afraid. However, if the line is as good we think it could be, then holy shit it won't matter as much.

Both QBs were fine, Hill probably looking a little better. At the very least they both looked capable and we're not stuck with a choice between dog shit and cat shit again. The defense looked really damn good which shouldn't be very surprising but I thought NIU was going to move the ball some.

Yeah I know it's only NIU but we've looked pretty shitty, especially on offense, recently in these openers against bad teams. I'll take it.

Hill? Did you watch a recorded game?

Whoever made and decided to play that Taco Bell commercial 50 times during the game with some weird clips of a girl saying "chicken" should be shot in the face.

My take away today is that both QBs are average, they'll miss throws, but at least know how to run the offense. They got to 200 passing yards against a dog shit defense and it would have been closer to 300 if not for missing a couple of open WRs and a few drops. Last season they had 40 yards passing in the opener, so progress.

The defense looks like the Iowa defense, but I assume NIU sucks ass and next week will be a better litmus test on that.

There is a bigger drop off at RB than I thought after Kamari, so hope he stays healthy.

Hopefully Cael/Kade are fine, anxiously await a status update there. With as hard as it was for Phillips to get off the field, I fear that was a high ankle.

Kirk has never once considered that it might be important for a qb to develop timing and familiarity with his targets.

if we can get league average play from either qb, my season prediction will be too low.

I just didn’t see a lot to get excited about, but they were better than I expected. Granted this NIU team was shockingly bad.

Looking at a list of starting Bigten QBs now. I don’t see our guys rising to the average. Haven’t seen them all yet though.

They’re fine. Took them out for heat related issues.

The ticket scanner at Gate A said the hell with it and just waved everyone through without scanning anything about 15-20 minutes before kickoff. Seemed like a slight breach of protocol, but damned if it didn’t speed things up considerably.

Not sure I care for the new PA guy. It’s like we asked ChatGPT what a PA guy is supposed to sound like.

The media timeouts are excruciating. I always forget about that.
