When you have four teams from a conference that take half of the top eight spots in the tournament, it stands to reason it was a pretty good year for said conference.

I'm assuming Indiana and OSU turned down bids?

The Big Ten, Big East and Big 12 top two teams automatically qualify for The Crown tourney now. Indiana did turn down their invitation for that apparently.

A lot of players/schools act like they’re Saban-era Alabama football missing the playoffs with stuff like this. It’s a weak, quitter move the vast majority of the time. Players should want to play and it’s a red flag if they don’t.

NIL this, my agent said that, in the end if you don’t care about playing you can fuck off.

Indiana is the basketball version of Nebrantska.

I assumed it was mentioned in here over the weekend but Iowa also turned down invites for postseason. That’s just how it is now when have a coaching change and majority of the roster is likely to enter the portal. The timing of the new Crown tournament is also stupid.

I agree with the spirit of what you are saying, but the bottom line is that college basketball is now a profession. Kid should be looking to maximize their earnings potential within the small window that they have. Coaches have been disloyal to schools for decades. The only constant has been the fans, and the current environment will slowly erode that over time.

Agreed, but yet another example of how if this is what it’s gonna be, everyone needs to sign contracts and both parties need to be held accountable. You sign to play until the season(s) is done, schools/collectives pay up or get sued. No contacting players under contract until a designated period after the season.

Much like shitty bowl games, these tournaments are only good for programs heading in the right direction. Ascending from the depths.

He quoted Normal Dale: "I was hired to teach the boys the game of basketball and I did that to the best of my ability. I apologize for nothing."

LOL!
That's awesome.
