Owen Freeman is fat and completely gassed, he didn't even last 2 minutes in the second half before he looked like he was going to puke and they had to pull him out.

Dix also playing like a pussy missing point blank shots and hanging his head. Creighton looks mediocre as shit.

Granted, Gonzaga is good. But love to see it.

Owen would never have worked with a coach like Ben.

Feel like Fran would have only lost to Gonzaga by 15-18 with Dix and Freeman.

And it's almost like there's a reason Iowa wasn't a tourney team last year when Dix and Freeman were the 2nd and 3rd best players on the roster.

Dix is better than that but Freeman is just not that good. Doesn't rebound well for his position. Doesn't defend well for his position even though his block totals were fine. Offensively, he's soft and doesn't get to the foul line much.

Dix is flaccid and impotent. Doesn’t have that erect, alpha mentality.

Every year Nebrantska goes out of their way to have the ugliest uniforms in the country. Somehow they tops themselves each year. Just awful.

Indiana struggled with Incarnate Word yesterday. That makes me happy.

Fran coached here for 15+ years, donated a fuckton of money and time to cancer charities and won the most games of any Iowa basketball coach in history. He's a good dude.

I will continue to care.

It's a college basketball thread, it's fair game. We'll continue to have a vested interest in Fran since we watched him take us out of basketball hell, even if he mailed it in his last couple years. We'd all probably feel the same as Fran agter living with large Marge and the miserable twats that were his offspring.

In spite of the shitty ending to the Fran era, you have to admit he brought a damn good amount of entertainment over the years. The exact opposite of The Criminal is what was needed and that’s exactly what we got. I started the Fran’s Red Face twitter account because of how much I enjoyed him (yes I know that account was remarkably average). But he brought excitement and some goddamn offense which was welcomed with open arms. Over time we learned his flaws weren’t going to change, which was clearly frustrating, but I’m hopeful most fans appreciate a lot of what he did in Iowa City.

Fran would be held in higher regard if his family could demonstrate some non-bitchassness

Fran was the perfect rebound after The Criminal tanked the entire program to the lowest of lows. We all wish he had enjoyed more postseason success, but he was undeniably solid nearly the entire time he was at *Iowa.

*I abstained from saying “here” because I didn’t want Lifelong to jump my ass for not being at Carver Hawkeye Arena right now.

I don't think that worked out like LifelongHawk thought it would.

I liked Fran in the beginning and most of the middle of his tenure, but he really damaged a lot of good will towards the end. Marge was an embarrassment pretty much the whole time and the nepo babies were a disease. I will not be rooting for him the rest of the way. However, I also will not be rooting against him the rest of the way.

I get that Margaret was disliked and it seems like she was kind of a pain in the ass, but most of the people who say that were in no way impacted by her behavior. At one point a lady I was at a game with bitched about her going down and getting a water at the Gatorade cooler by the bench. I really didn’t understand why anyone would give a fuck.

Using Margaret as a reason you were happy Fran was let go is weird unless you had a personal relationship/interactions with her.

The real problem was of course his sons. Connor was a dick but at least tried hard. The problem with connor was of course the recruiting implications - probably hamstringing guard recruiting for the middle half of frans tenure (connor was on roster 6 years). Then Patrick of course was icing on cake. Had the absolute WRONG mentality to come in as a coachs son.

Raising kids is difficult and its not like his kids are monsters, so no judgment there from me. But in hindsight bad judgment to bring them in for 6 years a piece. And should not have played both of them over the murrays. He lost me with that.

also should have cycled in new blood with an assistant who had a clue on defense, but thats kind of beside the point.

Conner took 0 minutes away from the Murrays
Keep telling yourself this. Here's reality: connor started at the 4 in murrays' freshmen year. Keegan came off the bench that year. What position did keegan play? Go on. Answer the question.
