If Darrell Wilson is not coaching special teams this is kind of a win for Iowa. I think that Lester Erb might get the offensive coordinator gig over Campbell, unless Kirk goes outside and looks to the NFL.
Laugh Out Fucking Loud...

Kirk should be punched in the face if he gives the OC to Erb over Campbell unless he really has no desire to be a coordinator and just likes coaching WR's.

What's with the dislike of Darrell Wilson? Good coach from what I've seen.
The Wisconsin fake punt (hey 99% of the people thought a fake punt was possible, this guy had the punt return on) and countless other special teams blunders don't really sit well with some people.

WTF is going to be talked about tomorrow?

I hope no one shows up to the PC.
How awesome and deserving Phil Parker is and has been.
I believe Phil Parker is a good coach and a players coach for that matter, but I honestly thought he wasn't strongly interested in a bigger position for personal reasons. I also was hoping like everyone else to get some fresh blood in the program.

Phil Parker isn't even the biggest surprise. Wilson is staying and moves to D-Backs, Morgan moves from O-Line to D-Line.

No Levar Woods mentioned at all.
Fuck me in the goat ass. Jaleel went from Hermann and Woods to PParker and Reece. That's pretty effing funny.

I agree but only because losing Campbell would rob our staff of any remaining swag whatsoever. I have no idea which would be a "better" coordinator.

no one has a fucking clue if Campbell is any better than Erb
I know that it seems that other programs aren't knocking down the door for Erb, but Campbell seems to be getting an offer from top programs every year.

Which one would you rather lose? The guy who took a shitty WR school and immediately produced back to back All Time receivers or the one that coaches the revolving door that is easily replaced?

He got fired from Wisconsin for being a shitty special teams coach and has done just as bad at Iowa.
This.
It's been my impression that the whole defensive staff has had to do a lot of covering for Norm the past few years and as a result the special teams have necessarily taken a hit because of that. I wouldn't blame Wilson for that.

Wilson has done well with LBs in his time here.

Lester Erb has more Iowa seniority (Local Iowa FB Union 57. He's paid his dues)

If this was going to be a different hire, would they have still released the info today in a press release? The timing of the press release seems odd also.

On a humorous note, wasn't Dougie, LWade or Mikey asking in that other thread when the last time HaLo broke actual news?

The University has updated all of the coaches pages and it appears that Wilson will still be the Special Teams coach.

Kirk worked this process with the precision and urgency of the typical two minute drill we've seen the last couple years.

This has been pointed out on here numerous times, but Wilson handles punt and kick coverage, not return. The return teams are handled by Erb (Jason White even mentioned Erb in a Morehouse video after the onside kick mix-up in Minnesota).

But everyone always lumps all special team issues under Wilson.

Reminds me how he goes for the jugular from the opponent's 39 yard line on 4th and inches and has the punter put it into the end zone.

Awesome. I guess naming Parker DC sooner was going to fuck the universe up. I'm thrilled by this news

Fans: I want McDonald's
Ferentz: I'll make you a hamburger better than McDonald's
Fans: Better than McDonald's?
Fans (past few weeks): We got McDonald's! Hamburgers! McDonald's!
Fans (today): Mama just made us the welfare green pepper burger on square Wonder bread.

watching KF for all these years did any of you yahoo's really think he would hire from outside the system (his system)? he just took a knee with 1:50 on the clock, punted from his own 39, named white #2 rb, jotted a note on his pad, stuck another piece of gum in and made a senseless hand gester.

Ferentz is actually taking more of a risk by doing this type of hire. If it doesn't work, the fans won't revolt on Parker, it will be his ass fully on the line. I have long been on the side of the seat isn't hot and won't be, but this will actually accelerate that if it doesn't work.

Had he gone outside, at least people would back off a bit because they were asking for an external hire and Ferentz could fire him and pick someone else.

Iowa couldn't afford to fire KF if they wanted to. Kirk can do whatever the fuck he wants.

As I said a couple weeks ago, I can understand the frustration with the timing but am not upset with Parker as DC. He's been the best position coach on staff for over a decade and has done a hell of a job. His former players campaigned for him and rave about him. Even nolook's boy. He's earned a shot and is a good fit.

I'm not as comfortable with an OC who has never called plays before.

Except they're gonna make another run here if not next year, the following year. It'll buy him all the time he needs.

Yep. This could be the beginning of the end for KF.
