Chandler was awful.
Yes he won some road games (he went 2-3 on the road that year)
He beat an ISU team when special teams blocked 47 kicks and Marcus effing Shnoor ran in from about 50 yards out. W
He got destroyed at MSU. L
He played horrible at Ohio State. L
He played one of the worst games ever at Purdue. Ramon Ochoa is still wide open on that first quarter throw. No one was within 25 yards of him, Chandler could have granny shot the damn football and completed the pass yet overthrew him by 10 yards. L
The Wisconsin game was arguably the worst quarterbacked win in Iowa history (Jake against MSU is prolly #1 but this one was close). Chandler was like 9-27. Iowa's first td was the result of a 54 yard Fred Russel run and a reverse to Ochoa. Their second TD was on a short field because of Jovan Johnsons interception. Their 3rd TD Considine set them up at the 1 yard line. The rest of the game was 2 field goals and a lot of punts and int/fumbles by Chandler. If Chandler would have had Meyer instead of Kaeding that game Iowa would have lost.
I'm not defending Vandenburg because he made some horrible decisions yesterday, but Chandler was not good.
just for the record:
Chandler at Wisconsin: 8-26, 66 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, 7 rushes for 23 yards
Jake vs. Michigan St: 5-15, 53 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 3 rushes for -2 yards
I'm still going with Jake vs. Michigan State because I think he was 3-13 in regulation, but I had forgotten how bad Chandler was at Wisconsin.
