Yet the worst aspect of his game is he can’t guard anyone.

He’s completely fine as a backup, energy point guard. Also LOL at Ladji over Traore. Ladji backs up Freeman Fran. Figure this out already.

At the moment Iowa should at minimum be playing a non conference game in Sioux Falls, Moline, 2 in Des Moines and Kansas City every year. Doesn’t even need to be a marquee name, just something semi decent like they’ve done this year.

Even play one at that small arena in Coralville. The other thing it does is improve your NET rating as they are neutral site games and not home games.

We've gotten to the point though that Carver-Hawkeye arena is one of the worst home environments for a major college men's basketball, at least for non-weekend and non-conference games.

Correct. It's a combination of apathy, terrible scheduling due to TV and Carver-Hawkeye being 25 years past its prime. There really isn't any way to improve it either. You can make the non-conference better by scheduling more games in Des Moines / Sioux City / Quad Cities, but it doesn't fix the larger conference scheduling and Carver-Hawkeye issue.

There aren't any good options other than spending $500m+ building a new arena in an area that still won't be accessible or desirable at 8pm on a Tuesday night in January. Women's basketball still riding the high of Caitlin Clark, but that won't last.

Turns out that a hard to get to cavernous arena with shitty weeknight scheduling and a mediocre team isn't a draw. The biggest draw to men's basketball home games is a soft serve ice cream cone. Seriously.

Honestly, it hasn't been the same since the Fieldhouse, a slow decline. The Fieldhouse was horrible for amenities and comfort, but damn it had character and was raucous.
