Some big losses (Jewell, Niemann, Wadley, probably Jackson) but a lot to look forward to. Nice to end the year with a bowl win for a change

Silver lining on losing both our starting tackles by the second game is Wirfs and Jackson are ahead of the curve. Have some decent bodies at G. Hopefully Daniels stays.

LB is the only major question mark. Going ot miss Jewell a lot no question. Hopefully Amani Jones put its together and Aaron Mends has a fisher like 5th year break through. I think Welch will be solid at Niemann's spot.

Other major hope is that the game speeds up for Stanley. If he gets quicker and reliably hits the deep ball fucking watch out.

Fuck Wisconsin.

Go hawks. Already excited while really sad this season is over. Goes too fast.

If Jones is half as crazy on D as he is on kickoffs he should be fun to watch.

I don't trust Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz, and I was all for his promotion.
Why? Some bad games this year, but some great ones and some really good second half adjustments. New QB and two freshmen OTs with no WRs is tough.

Brian is going to be really good with more experience. He gets too bogged down in whatever pre-game plan he wrote up and didn't learn to adjust on the fly in many games this year and until the 2nd drive of the 3rd quarter happened today, but and he finally woke up.

Next year he will get better and the scheme he is putting together is perfect for Iowa if they can get a couple decent WR's.

BF will be fine. Tried to get too cute a few too many times this year with talent that didn't quite match what he was trying to do. Some boneheaded playing calling mixed with some brilliant play calling at times.

He had some maddeningly awful....and some amazingly awesome games this year.

He certainly has a lot more excuses for the poor performances than Parker does.

I think you’ll see big improvements over coming years.

Quicker adjustments from a coordinator is like the “game slowing down for a QB.” Comes from experience

Any OC that wants to get his TEs involved as much as BF does is all right in my book.

The “bad Brian” was on display on that First drive when Fant was nowhere to be found when we were in the red zone...

Gonna be a long 8+ months with a lot of excitement to look forward to. It’s good to finish the year on a high note against a relatively evenly matched opponent.

I think BF will be fine if they can develop a couple of decent WRs. Easley was better than I expected him to be but shouldn't be more than a #3. VandeBerg seemed off all year after the injuries. ISM was playing too early due to lack of everything else.

Even if his offense is in the 100s?
Can you break down how he did against specific defenses for me? That might tell me more.
Northwestern was a top 20 defense. Minnesota was top 35 (that was a win). Wisconsin is #2. Purdue #14. Michigan State #21.

So not absolutely dogshit terrible all things considered.

Thanks frodes!

The playbook is fucking great IMO. Best it’s been in many years.

The play calling has room for improvement. I like BF but he needs to get better.

Still pretty pumped about the future.

Kallenberger was working with the 2’s at left tackle in warmups. Jackson, Wirfs and Kallenberger is probably the best trio of young tackles Iowas had in a long time.

If only there were a peer group that had similar schedules that we could use to compare. 10th out of 14 in total offense. We finished just ahead of Rutgers, Illinois, Minnesota and Maryland. Hooray. I'm all for being homers, but lets not be cyclonefanatic sized homers.

Certainly, there is hope that he improves, but that's not alright in my book.

He's not Greg Davis. That's already a huge win in my book.

In the usual Ferentz cycle of things, they should have been 1 or 2 games worse. They have finished 8, 7, 12, 8, 8 wins the last 5 years. I think they have a great shot at going 10+ wins and in the Top 10 in 2018.

They aren't Wisconsin yet, but I think they might be creeping closer to it. Going to be a fun next 3-4 years while Kirk finishes out his great career.
