@26.2 I’m 55 and more alive than ever. Fry gave way to Ferentz. My kids went from little kids I coached to the early stages of adulthood and doing amazing things.

Personally, I’ve lived every step of the way and make sure I learn something every day. I learned compassion, by the way. Came in part from watching a good friend’s kid die after struggling for two months in a children’s hospital and the joy from having outside visitors and attention. The experiences I’ve had taught me, among other things, the simple joy a kid feels as his curiosity is quenched watching a construction project. Each of those led to me feeling the need to call the company building the Kinnick end zone.

You know what else I gained? Wisdom and humility. The kind that quickly recognized the negatives as they were pointed out. Thus, I backed off and agreed it was a bad idea.

So go ahead and add my age to your spreadsheet. And then Go Fuck Yourself.
You don't have a monopoly on misery, Wanderer. I have spent plenty of time in that situation and worse in that same section of the hospital. And I still maintained common sense and rationalism. So you fuck yourself while you reap your AARP benefits.

I got no problem going after complacency and Ferentz, but this is some of the funniest shit:

The Hawkeyes’ only brand recognition is the Tigerhawk, which the marketing team throws on everything it can. Really cool.
It has zero sideline props: Miami has the turnover chain, Alabama has a Ball Out Belt for takeaways, and even Minnesota runs on the field with Oars for its Row the Boat slogan.
Ferentz is 7-8 in bowl games, which comes out to a percentage of .467. If we use a grading scale, Ferentz completely fails. So, he isn’t even an average coach in the games that matter the most, the actual “championship games” (quotes because we have never been to an actual championship).

In the regular season, Ferentz is 143-97 which comes out to .596, a generous D-minus and still below average.

Tough to argue with any logic that has Nick Saban as a B+ coach

He thinks Iowa fans should demand more sideline props and thinks Ferentz is a 'hometown boy'?

To be fair the idea of ferentz presenting some white guy from like waukon with a blinged out tigerhawk chain is extremely funny and I agree it should happen

I look forward to Sonnie's think-piece on whether it's black face for John Milani to wear a turnover chain

This guy is probably disappointed that Iowa doesn’t kick enough touchdowns too

Quick question for you season ticket holders. When do you usually get your tickets mailed?

Bottom of the roster churn is a good thing for the program. We just don't want to have too many busts.

Good luck to him elsewhere.

I couldn’t find a post I made on it, but I was told before this class signed that an iowa kid may end up decommitting. I wonder if iowa encouraged him to go elsewhere and he signed anyways, and now he’s getting pushed out.

I never had a chance to see him in person, but I remember some less than glowing reviews from people who saw him as a senior. Between that and the depth chart in front of him, this isn't too surprising.

I still can't believe Coons is going to Iowa...he is such a soft; drama-infused turd on the basketball court, hard
to envision him working out.
Duwa fits the "Iowa style" perfectly. That family tree has some very good athletes in it. I am looking forward to him getting healthy, getting Doyleized, and making contributions for the Hawks.

In Coons video I see him catching some nice passes in traffic, but I never see him run out of a tackle. Reminds me of Fiedorowicz in that regard (not in size/strength).
I'm now scared that I may know @Truant IRL based on his Duwa comments.

What's the story behind coons and his offer? We offered him during the summer didn't we?

I watched Solon play 4 times this year and remember one catch. Is he projected at TE or do they want to move him to tackle?

this is a good response to that idiot, you cant remove those first 2 years, but how you saw the improvement during them was unbelievable. this is someone that didn't see how hf built the program and then kf rebuilt from hf. over the last 40 years iowa has been a top tier big program and a high cfb program. there have been ups and downs during those 40 years, but the ups have been better than most and and the downs have been better than isus ups.

The only way that the author gets to the Ferentz .596 winning percentage is by including the cleanup work of his first two seasons. Take the last 17 seasons for instance: Michigan is a team known for "not standing for mediocrity" and has fired or forced into retirement three coaches during Ferentz tenure. In the last 17 seasons, Iowa has won more games and has a better winning percentage than Michigan. What's more, Michigan's star coach, Harbaugh, has performed below Ferentz has over that same time period: Harbaugh has not beaten Ohio State, has not competed in the Big Ten Championship game, not has he beaten Iowa head to head. Michigan, in fact, forced Lloyd Carr, a national championship coach into retirement - has their "not standing for mediocrity" made them any better? What about Tennessee firing Phil Fulmer for "mediocrity" and Texas firing Mack Brown for "mediocrity?" Has that made those now-dumpster-fire programs any better? What about Pelini at Nebrantska? How did that work out? Let's hit closer to home. Tom Davis was ousted by "fans" like the one who wrote this trash article, because of "mediocrity." Yet Tom Davis' final year as the Head Hawkeye basketball coach hasn't been equaled since. The writer of this piece would like to throw the Hawkeye football programs excellence and winning tradition in the garbage because he doesnt have the capacity to see objectively how solid the Ferentz program really is - both ethically and in excellence. Now Iowa had put together two of the best recruiting classes in years and is on the rise which makes this article all the more absurd for its timing.

Bill Connelly's fun with numbers preview

Lot of homework done there. Despite the fact that he calls both Brandon Snyder & Gervase 'all-conference talents'. Pretty good analysis.

That end zone is beautiful. I get excited each time I see it and think about how loud it will be. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, but tear down the south end zone and replicate the north. Kinnick would be deafening.
