Why? It's just a way to sort wins/losses and an improvement over top 50 or top 100 with no distinction on site.
Because if your ranking formula takes the relative difficulty of home, neutral, and road games into account, there's no need to double down and re-emphasize that portion of the ranking when using it to make a decision.
I might not be following your argument but I think we're talking about two different applications. The Quads are just a sorting tool for resume. Iowa has a better resume than some teams ranked ahead of them in the NET.
Sorry, what I’m trying to say is if the goal is to compare resumes build a resume model instead of a predictive model and then just use that ranking.

Not only are the top four seeds in each region given geographical preference, but just as important they will not put them at a geographical disadvantage either. That said there are a finite number of combinations so it’s possible that a lower seed like iowa ends up in Des Moines if they run out of space elsewhere. Remember that the four seeds (1,16,8,9 or 3,14,6,11) all have to be in the same pod and any one pod can have the two sets of the same seeds since sites no longer feed regionals.
Duke had to play in South Carolina against South Carolina as a 2 seed in 2017, so it may be a guideline, but it surely isn't a rule.
Duke is only 240 miles from Greenville. It was basically a wash. Plus the committee probably figured Marquette would beat SC.

A positive development, perhaps.

Q. Any update on Nicholas Baer's injury?
FRAN McCAFFERY: Nicholas is proceeding well through the concussion protocol. I think he's got a chance to play. But that won't be decided for a while.

Q. Looked like ear was bleeding?
FRAN McCAFFERY: It wasn't. Yeah, I think everybody thought that, but it wasn't.

Today only they're doing a $15 on the 15th promotion for the Maryland game. Lot of good seats available. Be there or GFY.

you're representing haloman, damn it
You edited your post to add more boring, repetitive shit? I figured if you had time to think about it for 10 minutes and add to your post, you would have done better than that.
don't delude yourself that your post was that high on the list

be happy that you got the edit

now get that little wee-wee in some thermal tights and start that run

Wait, are you saying positive because Baer has a concussion and might not play? Or positive that he's improving? I thought our idiot fans were past the whole Baer sucks and shouldn't play nonsense

Positive because it was widely reported/rumored that he was bleeding from his ear. Baer is our Swiss Army knife, he needs to play for Iowa to be successful.

When the Hawks beat Maryland on Tuesday night, I'm moving Iowa into the "lock" position on all the 'Bubble Watch' lists.

10 wins in the toughest conference in America (and won't be done winning games afterwards). 21-5 overall, with 6 Q1 wins, 3 of those on the road, and ZERO losses outside of Q1.

That is Lock territory. Has to be, considering the bubble is about as soft as its ever been this season.

Where have you seen Iowa on the bubble?

Bubble Watch is just the general name they use. The grouping of 'Locks', 'Should Be In's' and 'Work to Do' teams in each conference.

Iowa is currently in the Should Be In groups.

We have been counting down this exact thing for weeks now.

The magic number is 1, boyz.

They aren’t similar players at all.
Just in term of playing both forward spots, hitting threes, and hopefully causing some issues defensively with his length
Nunge is just a 4 now, playing the 3 last year was a disaster and he's up to 250 lbs.
Baer isn't a great option at 3 either. Both of their best positions are PF. Obviously one is undersized but I don't think the comparison is way off base. Both can't guard anyone off the dribble but Nunge had pretty active hands and seemed to tip a decent amount of balls similar to Baer. Both can shoot the three. Nunge has a higher ceiling IMO because of his size but LOL at thinking they don't bring similar things to the game.

Coming in tonight's game Baer was 6th on the team in minutes played but had 5 more streals (29) and over twice as many blocked shots (26) than any teammate and is second in rebounds per minute.

Nunge and Garza could have a hell of an inside-outside game next year. Either can be inside or outside. Cook is obviously a badass inside this year, but next year’s flexibility could be pretty fucking difficult to defend. Granted they still have to play defense, but that’s never going to be strong no matter who the fuck is out there.

I really excited about Nunge. He’s more athletic than given credit for with natural post moves and a great shot. He will end up a 12-14 ppg scorer at some point. He reminds me of a typical Michigan post.

Yep, the redshirt is perfect for him. Skilled, pretty athletic and now will be stronger. Him and Garza together could be a bitch to defend with shooters around them.

bohannon / Moss / Wieskamp / Nunge / Garza as a starting lineup is boner ready. Add in Connor / Patrick / Kreiner / Toussaint / Pemsl as the second group and that is pretty fucking great.

Yeah I mean I guess he could improve a lot in the next two years but right now it's pretty hard to imagine them having a good defense if Garza is starting at center. There's only so much you can do defensively if you can't protect the rim at all. There's potential for some really special offenses though. If his three point shooting gets back to where it was a freshman they could have lineups with five legitimate 3 point threats on the floor at once pretty easily, which isn't something many college teams are equiped to defend.

I'm kinda thinking Cook winds up coming back too, but they should be fine either way.

Don't forget Fredrick. I pulled up his highlights again recently and I'm really excited about him.

If we get about 5 more buzzer beaters it might even out that stupid 2013-2014 season.....

I should give Revolver a beating for reminding me how truly frustrating the 2013-2014 season was. I had flushed it, but seeing this brings back nightmares.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013–14_Iowa_Hawkeyes_men's_basketball_team
  • Loss by 5 in overtime at a neutral site to eventual #6 Villanova
  • Loss by 3 when Gesell shits his pants on the road against #17 Iowa State
  • Loss by 4 on the road to #4 Wisconsin when Fran goes full retard
  • Loss by 8 on the road to #21 Michigan
  • Loss by 2 in overtime against #7 Michigan State
  • Loss by 7 late to eventual #22 Ohio State
  • Loss by 5 to #16 Wisconsin
  • Loss by 6 at Minnesota
  • Loss by 7 at Indiana in the short rest re-scheduled game
  • Loss by 10 at Michigan State
  • Loss by 3 at the buzzer to Illinois
  • Loss by 5 to a terrible Northwestern team in the BTT
  • Loss in overtime to eventual #23 Tennessee Sweet 16 (should have been Elite Eight) that was somehow in the play in game. Fucking joke.
That is the most ridiculous season I can remember and every loss was excruciating. That team was really fucking good and having them in the play in game against that Tennessee team was a complete joke. Iowa should have been an 8 seed at worst if not higher.
