That is probably fair. I still expect a top 25 offense because Weiskamp will be solid and Baer will be back to minutes in favorable matchups. The defense should be about average too. Some of the offensive efficiency was due to being down 20+ in way too many games. No way does the other team’s defense give as much of a shit in that situation. I still think this team is good on offense, just not as good as the stats indicated last year.Baer/Nunge at the SF was the worst defensive part of the team. Mix in a slow/hobbled bohannon and Cook giving minimal defensive effort and you get last years zone.
Weiskamp takes care of one of the problems and hopefully Cook tries a little and maybe they won't be complete garbage.
I still can't believe how efficient they were offensively considering they had limited transition opportunities because of the defense, were turnover machines, and basically played without a SF all year. This year is going to be fun with Weiskamp and Connor filling some huge holes.
again this is rumored
Team won by 15pts played well
J. Pickett had 20pts
Mark Smith had 15pts
I care, kind of, if I have to.A buddy told me Mizzou won. But I realize no one cares who won.
Nothing real official. They did it in segments. Heard that it was pretty even for the most part. Iowa's front court of Tyler Cook and Luka Garza were their two best players. Nothing too shocking with Cook, but Garza coming off that injury is a little surprising. Freshman CJ Fredrick did not play. He figured to factor in a little this year, but we'll still have to see what Fran wants to do with him.
Those close to him want him to RS a season now with this setback. I'm told it's much worse than Fran is leading on, but that could be Fran protecting his guys which is a big reason why the Fredrick family loves the guy. I was also told that Jordan bohannon did not play and obviously Iowa missed both bohannon and then CJ as well because of the guard depth situation.
They did not shoot great as a team, but that is to be expected early on as you work out some kinks. The defense definitely improved since last season, but it was just an exhibition so you can do what you want with that information. The defense should be improved. Over the summer an old Cincinnati assistant - Larry Davis - came in and helped Fran with defense for a few days. Cincy obviously known for their defense so this was nice for Fran and his staff.
I was told Larry said they were dreadful. Obviously Iowa can score the ball with anyone in the country but if the defense isn't there you get what you got last year and Davis said they were not very good at all.
The big news here is that Jordan bohannon did not play. He's a guy that the Hawkeyes cannot afford to be without this season. We are not sure yet why he did not play, but we're working on it.
JBo makes me drinkJbo loves to drink
JBo makes me hardJbo loves to drink
He shot the same % as Jordan as a senior (42%) but he was wide open a lot more.bohannon is a great shooter so you expect them to shoot worse as a team when he's out, but I do think shooting could be a concern.
Was Connor a good shooter in High School?
Lol, of all the things to worry about. From all accounts Weiskamp is a damn good shooter who is joining the best shooter in Iowa history along with Moss and Dailey who are pretty solid.bohannon is a great shooter so you expect them to shoot worse as a team when he's out, but I do think shooting could be a concern.

I find it amusing they are going to get one full season out of the two porter boys.Being without bohannon shouldn’t be that big of a deal. Especially when Missouri lost whichever Porter for the season. Expectations in check.
I actually feel that bohannon is the one guy this team can’t afford to go without. I know how good Cook and Garza are and we can also expect JW to be an impact guy. But I see bohannon as Iowa’s best player and at a position where the depth is extremely questionable.Being without bohannon shouldn’t be that big of a deal. Especially when Missouri lost whichever Porter for the season. Expectations in check.

Well, unfortunately Larry was pushed out of Cincinnati after some inappropriate touching of a co ed on an airplane..They should hire Larry Davis full time to teach them how to play defense if it's that dreadful.
Given that it's unlikely to be staffed entirely by hermits, I'm sure someone does.Anyone know someone in the KWWL sports dept?
35 second mark.Inside sources tell me it was a KCRG piece

I meant being without him for the scrimmage if it was true that we lost by 15 to a mediocre Mizzou team.watBeing without bohannon shouldn’t be that big of a deal. Especially when Missouri lost whichever Porter for the season. Expectations in check.
That was last year. Without Porter they aren't even a bubble team, IMOI thought Missouri was supposed to be pretty good?
