"From what I understand..."
It is surprising, but great news for a lot of reasons.Good news, I think.
He was going to be behind Cook, Garza, Kreiner, Pemsel at the PF/C and behind Wieskamp, Baer and Dailey at the SF position, so it makes sense for him being a 4 year player.
With that and CJ Fredrick also announced as a redshirt, Fran literally can't go any deeper than 10 players. Riley Till would be the emergency 11th option.
That and the overall lack of pigmentation. It's a good thing when our bitches center on a guy only shooting 70% from the line.
We weren't supposed to start yet?Can we start sucking each other’s dicks yet?
No.Who has a good pulse on IC?
Is this start good enough to get the students involved?
A 10,000 seat arena in place of the Old Capital Mall would be packed for this team as Big Ten play kicks off vs Wisconsin but no one wants to go to Carver.No.Who has a good pulse on IC?

It's the quality of basketball that gets people In Carver. The other things are nice, but they aren't reasons people are or aren't going to games.Carver is awesome. If this team is ranked and playing well it will be pretty full. It was falling behind but the new sound and scoreboards did a ton for the experience.
As recently as 3 years ago we had 12,000 (announced) show up for a team ranked #3 in the country in a conference game, so I am not holding my breath. It's the quality of basketball that gets people In Carver. Yes, this would kick all sorts of ass. Make it happen, @CreedA 10,000 seat arena in place of the Old Capital Mall would be packed for this team as Big Ten play kicks off vs Wisconsin but no one wants to go to Carver.No.Who has a good pulse on IC?

Point being that scoreboards, sound systems, don't make any difference in attendance. As recently as 3 years ago we had 12,000 (announced) show up for a team ranked #3 in the country in a conference game, so I am not holding my breath. It's the quality of basketball that gets people In Carver. I was say they contribute to an overall warmer atmospherePoint being that scoreboards, sound systems, don't make any difference in attendance. As recently as 3 years ago we had 12,000 (announced) show up for a team ranked #3 in the country in a conference game, so I am not holding my breath. It's the quality of basketball that gets people In Carver. Yeah, I don't think that's true. I was among the 12,000 in attendance to watch Cincinnati play a meaningless game against Green Bay on Friday. I, and probably about 30% of the attendees were there mostly for the stadium experience.Point being that scoreboards, sound systems, don't make any difference in attendance. As recently as 3 years ago we had 12,000 (announced) show up for a team ranked #3 in the country in a conference game, so I am not holding my breath. It's the quality of basketball that gets people In Carver. I don’t know why people think this. The students don’t care at all. Plus probably even fewer regular fans would come because getting to the arena would be a total disaster. If they built a downtown arena, Iowa would fill that arena.
Students would show up and it would be a great atmosphere.
Traffic would be a mess, but it is already a mess, so who cares.
I blame all of this on Lute.Getting to Carver as a student is an absolute pain in the dick.
A new arena would be just a little closer for the west side dorms. The east side dorms would still have a walk similar to what the west side dorms have now, and apparently they don’t go. I mean it would be a little closer, and obviously downtown, but we are talking like 5 minute difference. I dont think that is the difference between going and not going. There’s just little attempt to engage a bunch of kids, half of whom probably cheer for Illinois.Getting to Carver as a student is an absolute pain in the dick.
They would care if they could go get bombed at the bars before, walk a few hundred feet to a brand new beautiful arena, then walk a few hundred feet to go drink again or a short walk home.I don’t know why people think this. There are three good bars and other shitty bars within a short walk to carver right now and we still struggle to draw.
Carver sucks and they need to build a new arenaCarver isn’t the greatest arena, but many of the problems have been associated with shitty teams and shitty game day production. Even Kinnick (which is an awesome venue) sort of sucked between 2012-2014. The AD has better people in charge of the game day production, so it seems like Carver could get better with a good team.
They could still use the practice areas at CHA. No need to have them both in the same facility. Also, obviously it would be better but I’m just saying that it wouldn’t be worth a couple hundred million dollars. Plus you would need new practice space too.
The parking does not suck for old folks. It’s literally right next to carver.
With that said, it would seem like a good investor opportunity to buy up a couple of the those crappy apartment complexes, rezone and establish a nice sports/bar restaurant area with plenty of parking behind Carver. It's still reasonably close to Kinnick to do well in the Fall as well. This is all stupid talk anyways, Iowa made the decision to dump something like $50m over the last 5 years into Carver Hawkeye.
The practice facility is there, the offices are there, nothing is changing. Carver Hawkeye will be there for at least another 20 years.
