Cook didn't make ESPN's recent draft top 100. Don't see that changing.

His jump shot actually looks worse. But he's definitely brought it up a notch in his post play.

His ft% is higher but his form actually looks worse.

How do you implement a hitch into your shot yet have it improve?

I guess if Cook ends up in the right situation, he could be a role player in the NBA. Nobody thought Bobby Hansen would have a nine year NBA career. I think the likely scenario is he'll make a nice living overseas playing ball

I think he's still a four-year guy, and Europe is his ceiling.

He doesn't do any one thing well enough to earn a roster slot as a role player.

I think he's gone this year. Will take a chance on the G League route initially and if that doesn't pan out after a few years he goes to Europe eventually.

Yep. I think he would do this even if he made zero changes to his game.

Too bad NBA execs don't covet the crazy eyes

35k a year in the G league?

He's not a dumb young man. At 21, he's pretty close to his ceiling, and a degree from Iowa would put him in better shape to earn after his stars-in-the-eyes exploration of professional basketball (in Helsinki or Frankfurt or some grimy post-Soviet province metropolis that is one notch down from the Metro).

As I'm being a dick and making his life decisions for him, I'd sure like to see him stay another year and get the bachelor's.

Uh, a chance to make 6 figures in your early 20s, living in Talinn or Helsinki for a couple-few years would be pretty cool. Traveling Europe and being a professional basketball player. Cook is like a mini-Lebron too, and will be a show and fan favorite where ever he goes.

I am curious to learn about Cook being a "mini-Lebron."

Homeless man's Lebron? His game & body-type is very similar to Lebrons, only he is worse at everything. Can we agree on this?

I think he's a 3 year guy because whatever parts of his game aren't NBA ready after 3 years won't be ready after 4 either. At this point he just seems like he wants to get paid, which is fine.

I don't think it has anything to do with "getting paid".

His good friend and teammate is an NBA star and I think he feels pressured to be in the NBA as soon as possible.

I'm sure Tyler Cook isn't the only player in college basketball who has a good friend and ex-teammate that is in the NBA. I wonder if all that pressure is mounting on those guys too and we have hundreds of early declarations next year.

I don't know about that, I just get the impression Cook thinks he's good enough for the NBA. Best case for Iowa is that he gets a super honest evaluation after this year, but even then I can see him declaring anyway.

KXNO is currently debating about what iowa will do with the open date now that the big four is gone.

It was leaked that iowa would play Cincinnati at the UC several months ago and officially announced by iowa over a month ago.

This is our fucking local radio Hawkeye insider.

Iowa media is too busy bitching about the fans. In the past week alone I have heard or seen tweets from Howe, Dochterman, Leistikow, Harty, and Kakert bitching about their followers. Shitting on the plates they eat from

They bitch about Kirk, Fran, and traveling. If they had any real skills they should consider a different profession.

Even if he can't play in the NBA (he's improved a lot this year but I don't see any universe where he gets drafted with his size and complete lack of a jumper) it'd be hard to blame him too much for leaving early. He's more than good enough to have a successful career playing professional basketball, even if it's not in the NBA. At this point it's hard to see how one more year playing in college for free would really benefit him, unless he's going to suddenly learn to hit threes at like a 40% clip in one offseason, and he'd probably be more likely to improve his jump shot if he was playing professionally and got to work on basketball full time anyway.

Maybe he could want to stay and be a part of a good team?
