This next 4 games also feels a lot like the Penn State game did for Iowa football this year. It is an opportunity to really rocket them from the expected 7/8/9 seed level to a 4/5/6 level.

They can lose all of them and still be fine, but I would love to go into an NCAA Tournament again knowing that if you win your first game you are going to get bent over by a #1 or #2 seed the next game.

I was thinking about this the other day, and what if we get Tony Carr in the 2016 class instead of Jordan. We would have probably made the tournament in 2017. But Jordan is also becoming a beloved player in his own right and assuming he can finish strong with two tourney appearances and maybe a couple wins it might have been worth it. I just love seeing the instate kids have success and continue the program tradition. I mean iowa State is a good program but they have absolutely no idea what that feels like.

I mean that Weezy story is Chris Street level shit and what brings casual fans back.

Would be an enormous victory to go 2-2. Then the next 4 are super winnable.

If we can be 22-5 or 21-6 going into those last 4 games of the season, I tell you what...

I'm trying to stay level headed but as I see it:

Garza - legit high level d1 player and it was obvious last year a TFR with all the shit he was a true competitor.
Weiskamp - a true difference maker for ~30 mpg than what we had last year. Excellent rebounders from the wing. A frosh but a near complete game. Adequate on D.
Cook - has some drawbacks but when he is a luxury (and still leading scorer and rebounder) as opposed to "we need this guy to carry us every night) that is pretty fucking significant.
bohannon - again some drawbacks. mostly on D and that he is not really a create your own shot guy for the most part. But as a 3rd option he is borderline lethal. especially when able to play off the ball.
*wildcard* Moss - here is the reason for most skepticism because of demonstrable inconsistency but Moss is playing at a really level high level the past 10 games and is a legitimate dead eye shooter and also excellent in transition.

That's your starting five. All now in double figures, and pretty favorable to anything outside the top 5-6 nationally. Then:

Baer - a great hustle player for about 10-15 mpg which is now what we can use him as. main thing is he shooting closer to his traditional 40% from 3 than the 29% last year. Not what he should be on defensive but has a knack for making huge plays (blocks/steals)
Kreiner - honestly pretty legit and well rebound for a backup 4/5
McCaffery - would like to see less outright regression on the offensive end but a 6'5" backup PG and alpha is a luxury for most teams in CBB.

That's your core rotation with Dailey getting about 10 mpg.

In kenpom this is a top 10 offensive team. They are current 90-100 defense but the key is keeping them at that level of hopefully into the top 75 range in which case this is very dangerous team.

I'm trying to stay pessimistic but we have some dudes with an increasing record of doing what they do.Keep in mind we have one guy under 6'5" who plays. And its not some disaster like last year when they had Dom playing the 2 with the 2nd unit. I'm also cautiously optimistic that given an NCAA opportunity bohannon would be an assassin throwing up some 7-10 line from 3.

I still reel over the disappointing 13-14 and 15-16 years but I feel like we have guys that are simply more clutch than those years. Let's close this out respectably with a couple marquee wins and possibly could be best team of Fran's tenure.

Yeah their only Iowa guy in recent memory is Jacobsen, no? Despite the hate from most Iowa fans he's been pretty good for them. It honestly seems like it means more to him there than it did at Nebrantska. I wasn't disappointed when Iowa didn't offer/get him in HS and I wasn't disappointed when Iowa didn't offer/take him as a transfer but damn if he hasn't exceeded expectations a bit.

On a related note provided this turns out to be a good or better season, one of the top five moments this year has to be Pemsl coming out of nowhere and pwning Iowa State. It's totally not a coincidence he suited up for that as a last game this year. I wish he would get back the donkey booty still but my like of Pemsl has gone up like 500% since that day.
Jacobson’s stats in conference games are essentially right in line with what he averaged at Nebrantska. He started off the season shooting unsustainably well from the field and has predictably (to anyone other than Iowa State fans) plummeted back down to earth.

Oh god. We painted her farmhouse multiple times growing up. Once about 10 years ago, it was 9 in the morning and I had to go to the bathroom. I took a shit in her toilet and clogged it up to the point that we were carrying 5 gallon buckets of poopy water to the field to dump out.
How big was her toilet?

If a hs prospect had something like that as his highlight video he would be a legend overnight. But everyone is a boring dumbfuck now.

Lunardi!!!!!! currently has 10 teams from the conference in. What do we think the number will be? I think it will be a max of 8, with 7 being more likely. There is some real pants shitting going on.

Locks: MSU, Michigan
Should be in: Maryland, Purdue, Iowa, Wisconsin
Bubble: Minnesota, Ohio St, Nebrantska, Indiana

The NET is going to really help out the big ten this year. I wouldn’t be surprised to have 8 go. Highly doubt 10
