I hate to be an asshole, but Dolph can take a hike. He's not very good and I'm a Zabel guy anyway.

Also, dumbfucks like @Dr. Zaius need to get a fucking grip. Fran saved Iowa basketball and is a top-5 all-time coach in the program. If he wants our shitty play-by-play guy gone then sayonara.
Zaius needs to take a few weeks off.

If I were Fran I would GTFO after this season. If people are choosing Dolph is this whole matter Fran will never win over the fans here.

I don’t know all the details but there is obviously a rift there. I’m guessing Fran is being a bit of a baby, and Gary isn’t doing anything to make it better.

Fran is actually 10th of 22 all time at Iowa in win percentage

I'm guessing Dolph's tickets getting sold to a Wisconsin fan who heckled Fran's wife is probably where that rift started.

Have we ever figured out where the email complaint to Learfield came from yet? What if it came from the Maryland side?

I'm assuming we will never know that.

The rift started after Fran was not keen on how he was interviewed by Dolph when he first got here and there have been little things escalating since

Iowa fan is fucking retarded. Dolphs greatest legacy is being a outgoing drunken chucklefuck at I-club events, and has fucked up several times on air. Dolph fucks up, is disciplined by his employer (not at the direction of the university that we know of), and people are pissed at Fran. Fran has taken 4 different schools to the tournament, yet he is deemed more easily replaceable than Gary Dolphin. Fuck!

You guys are missing the point.

If Fran and Barta want Dolph out then fire his ass. Don’t play these little chickenshit games.

Barta is a complete puss and shitty at his job so I’m not surprised this thing was butchered.

Only reason I want Dolph back is I’m afraid Iowa would replace him with someone like Albrecht.

I’m sure they would reach out to Balbinot to see if he would come back for just basketball. That would be a meh hire.

90% of Iowa fans that know who Hassel is want him which means the university won’t even approach him.

Hassel is way way way too publicly critical of the athletic department (sometimes for good reason, sometimes because deep down he's still kind of a dumb message board fan) to have a shot at the job. Schools typically want their home announcer to be a cheerleader.

Albrecht can be corny as hell but I think he does a much better job following the action and doing basic stuff like getting names right and remembering to give score updates more than once every ten minutes. I think the inevitable end to this is that he gets the basketball gig and Dolph continues to do football and the I-Club circuit gladhanding stuff.

I’m not thrilled with any of the guys currently working the Iowa broadcasts.

I am hesitant to post this, but fuck it at this point. I’ve heard that dolphs drinking is a major point of contention with Fran. I don’t think Dolph drinks any more than many iowa fans including me, but given his position and proximity to the team I guess it’s caused issues from the beginning.

I’ve never seen Dolph embarrass himself or anything like his predecessors, but evidently there’s enough going on there to create this rift.

Plus if I were Fran I would pissed as hell after the Dailey incident. That was way worse than the Maryland thing.

Dolph and Ed’s drinking is basically a ‘they’re just regular guys like us’ and part of the reason everyone is defending him.

If Balbinot was in this position most people would say who gives a fuck just hire someone else.

Right, but if Dolph knows it bugs Fran then he just should at least make an effort to tone it down on the hoops side.

I’ve been in a small group with both of them together. Their relationship is downright awkward.

Is the story of Fran accidentally drinking vodka out of Dolph's water bottle at a game true?

As much as I like vodka, that would kind of piss me off. Especially if it wasn't Titos.

I'm under the same assumption as I think everyone here is- Dolphin meant that Fernando is big and strong, dominant, with weaker players bouncing off of him, and not that he is a sub-human. I feel exceedingly confident he didn't mean it like that. My first reaction to this was to roll my eyes and bemoan PC culture.

But the more I thought about it, intent does matter, but only to an extent.

Gary Dolphin isn't some rando on twitter that the mob is going after, he is a broadcaster that needs to know better than to make that analogy. And as such, the same leniency shouldn't be afforded to him.

This isn't some new rule a bunch of SJWs just invented. Don't compare black people to monkeys- it's a pretty simple request.

Longwinded way of saying I doubt Dolphin is racist, but I'm fine with his suspension. Not suggesting Iowa handled it well, Barta should have been available to the media.

More importantly, If you think Gary fucking Dolphin is the victim of a witch hunt perpetrated by campus liberals and Fran's wife, you deserve to be trolled.

Dipshit posts like you made just make it worse and look worse for iowa fans.

Be better.

No, just fake news. Dolph is a good family friend and he would never do something like that.

I used to drink in front of my kids, who are 7 and 4. Didn’t think twice about it.

One day we were out to eat in KC and someone got kicked out of Q39 after a scuffle with employees. Kids were scared because I actually had to get up to make sure the dipshit didn’t inadvertently hurt them. My daughter asked why he was so mad and we told her it was because he had too much beer.

The next time I had a drink, my daughter was worried that I would get in trouble if I had too much beer. So I don’t drink in front of my kids any more. Minor shift in habits for the sake of people I spend a lot of time with and that see me as a role model.

I'm having a beer right now while helping my 12 year old with her math.

JFC people, get a grip.

I don't know what you're talking about.
I don't see the edit thing either. But I checked, and double checked. There was a missing "s" after you talked about drinking while helping with math and it not being an issue. I found that funny, but it appears to be Halo AIDS, my apologies.
If you edit quick enough it doesn’t leave any text. Try it.
Oh, well then he 100%! Forgot the "s" because he's showing his kid what a drunk he is while posting about people making too big a deal out of that.
