The consensus amongst the Iowa reporters/web guys is that Cook is gone regardless of NBA evaluations.
Tom Kakert, Rob Howe, Pat Harty, whatever scdrub is running the Iowa 24/7 site this week. There's what, 10+ pulitizers for investigative journalism on that Dream Team?

These are the same scrubs that were cuming out of the woodwork a month ago bragging about how they had INSIDE!!!! info months ago that Cook to Missouri was a done deal. 1. They don’t know shit. 2. Even when they do get tips, they don’t share actual info, they just make idiotic hints that they have info.

It’s amateur hour. Halo breaks more news each year than all of those fuckers combined.

Again, when and where did this consensus suddenly happen this week?

Or is this something that Tugboat randomly posted for no reason?

Well, turns out that Tugboat said that yesterday for no reason.

Nice.

Even if Tugboat didn't say it for no reason there likely wouldn't be a decent reason for a "consensus amongst Iowa reporters/web guys" about Cook. Hlas admitted the fake Mizzou story - fair to call that one a consensus - came from a message board. And since this one is exactly the opposite of what Tyler himself recently said sure to be bullshit.

Caring about the consensus among reporters/web guys is like asking participants whether rule changes are expected in the next Special Olympics; not gonna learn much of import.

Hlas admitted the Missouri thing was unsourced except to a message board poster?

I'm actually hopeful it's trending in the other direction. Harty, on his Monday podcast, seemed to intimate that he thinks if Tyler isn't going to get drafted that he'll come back. ("He's 20 and doesn't want to play overseas.") Then again, Pat kept using the phrase "If he isn't drafted, he'll be back." Not how this works. He also wrote this in a recent column:

"The 6-foot-9 Cook wants to play in the NBA sooner than later, but there is no guarantee that he will be selected in the 2018 NBA Draft, and I’m hearing from sources close to his situation that Cook would rather return to Iowa for his junior season than play professionally overseas."

I can see him playing in the G league. But I’d be pretty surprised if he went overseas.

Funny thing about Cook not talking to reporters at the banquet is that they tried to say it is a bad indicator for his chances to return to Iowa. No you stupid fucks, he isn’t talking to you because you made up rumors about him transferring to another school based off of a Missouri fan message board

Had to like that post, love the idea of Tyler shunning those yahoos for that pointless wave of shit. Be hilarious if he put out a respectful statement choosing to concentrate on studies/balling and declining to speak to local media next year.

But GodDamnItToFuckingHell, TC says he's coming back if not drafted, why does nobody believe him?

And Your Honor, sorry for the slow response (I certainly do not mean to be contemptuous) but yeah, pretty much, I posted something about it that day. He might have said shit like rumors or talk since Thanksgiving (probably downwind from Pharty) but the Missouri message board was the one and only thing specifically mentioned.

Can we clear up the "he's coming back if not drafted" that has been used multiple times now?

This isn't 15 years ago or whatever when they had that option. If he is coming back, you will know by June 11th at 4pm.

Fair enough, TC will pull his name from the draft if NBA advisory is undrafted. Likely but hard to say, do think he will get an invite to the combine- invitations should be announced soon.

NBA Draft Combine invites went out on April 30th last year. 67 players were invited. The combine was a week earlier last year, so at the latest the invites should go out around May 6th

If he doesn't get an invite, then he is going to be much closer to a lock to come back.

I think there were about 17 players who hadn't hired agents that were invited and all but about 5 of them went back to school.

Since the rest of the players will be in the weight room working to cure that issue, hopefully Cook will be in the gym learning how to play team defense.

Who knows when this picture was taken but it was posted today and Cooks in it so it appears he’s in the gym and not focusing on only his defense.

They moved it back, it's the 21st now
The deadline to withdraw from the draft and return to college is May 30th at 11:59 p.m.

I was looking at the draft date when I originally wrote that but Doug has the right date I'm pretty sure.
No he doesn't:

Single plays are the top 3 in each column.

Adding in the non conference next year and it’s one of the better schedules they’ve put together in a few years.

This is crazy.
So how many get invited to the camp and how many will actually get a workout with any teams?
There were 67 invited to the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago last year including seniors.

Many of these players will likely not even get a single workout in front of teams unless they are part of a larger pro day.

2019 Mock draft posted on ESPN Insider today and somewhat surprisingly no sign of Cook there either.

Kevin Huerter declared today without an agent. Surprised to see him at 20.

Not a single college senior in that list. Shows how valuable “potential” really is today.

It is a 2019 mock draft, so this is for next year.

This is true but 2018 mocks are also pretty much entirely devoid of seniors. ESPN only has two going in the first round and none before 28

Is this everyone's first time dealing with the NBA Draft? The first round has been devoid of seniors for about 20+ years.

Cook isn’t even on top 100 lists for the 2018 draft. I think he will be back.

I agree on the first round. Been a lot of high schoolers and foreign players over the years. Just weird to see literally zero college seniors, but I really haven’t paid that close attention.

Dude, anyone listed as a junior on there is going to be a senior when they go into the 2019 draft.
