TC does an interview with a St. Louis reporter and explains why he is changing numbers (“grace multiplied”). The Iowa beat is gonna be so outraged!!
That’s a much better article than any of the Iowa media would do, even given the same interview opportunity.

Ok, so, I hate Kriener
I think it happened in chat because I can’t find it briefly looking through the search function, but some described him perfectly by saying, “he looks like his breath smells.”

Clean up a few small things from last year and the offense is at that level. The defense needs to improve a lot to come close to that.

I was wrong last year but Jordan has to regress a bit doesn’t he? He has been off the charts efficient on offense. He’s obviously better than I thought, but maybe he just ridiculously better than I thought. Or maybe a higher level of defensive intensity will affect his offensive numbers a bit.

Last year they had really 2 guys capable of getting their own shot, and one of them barely would try and when he did he pulled up from 18 feet. The other one never took a jumper until late in the year.

This year they have 3 guys in the starting lineup that can get their own shot and none of them are bohannon or Garza. That should lead to a pretty fun team to watch.

I don't see why he has to. It isn't a fluke one month thing, he's been pretty steady for two years now. His numbers against conference opponents are in line with overall also. Here are some of his key stats:

Offensive rating- 111.0 as a freshman, 121.6 as a soph
Usage rate- 19.7% of possessions as a freshman then 20.1% as a sophomore
Assist rate- 30.4 as a freshman, 29.2 as a soph
Turnover rate- 21.1 then 18.2
FT percentage- 85.5% on 55 attempts then 90.4% on 83 attempts
2PT percentage- 32% on 90 attempts then 40.6% on 101 attempts
3PT percentage- 41.6% on 214 attempts, then 43% on 223 attempts

If his usage had to increase significantly then you might expect a drop but I don't think that will happen.

Did anyone else laugh at this and shake their head? They always talked non-stop about how strong Wagner was and he couldn't bench 225 more than 6 times. The non-football strength coach is a fucking joke.

That's a fucking embarrassment but how much of a priority did Fran make strength and conditioning?

It was either Fran didn't make it a priority or the strength coach sucks. Even if it wasn't a priority, a guy like Wagner should have been way stronger than that. It is completely damming that he goes into another strength program and a couple of months later he has tripled his max reps.

They have supposedly re-emphasized it now and changed what they have been doing, but if they are having the same guy lead it I'm not going to be all that confident.

It's also nearly impossible to play football and basketball at the division 1 level because the body type and conditioning required is completely different to be good at both.

That calculates as a one rep max of 270. No way a dude built like Wagner couldn't lift more than that. Half of my 2A high school football team, including scrawny dudes like me, could max 270.

Hell, most of HaLo could walk out to their garage right now and throw up a dozen reps of 225 then walk back in the house and finish satisfying their wife without breaking a sweat.

The bench press is a stupid way to measure strength. Even more so on a 6'6' basketball player with reasonably long arms.

Of course it is. 6 reps is still hilariously pathetic.
