I agree with all of that. Patrick is embarrassingly bad in certain aspects of the game and needs to show massive improvment.

The thing I don't agree with is any of the nepotism talk with Patrick. He was a highly ranked and skilled player that dozens of teams would have offered and given a scholarship. To call it nepotism on any level is some HawkeyeHeaven type stuff.
I’m not saying he shouldn't be on the team but I don’t think his minutes are justified. He has a much longer leash than other players

of course Kris is the only one who could probably take them and he is Inconsistent too.

but there does always seem to be a mccaffery on the floor

I mean, isn't that because there are 2 of them and one of them starts and the other one plays a key reserve role? It's more of a logistics issue than a nepotism issue.

The rope McCaffrey is afforded game to game can't be denied by anyone. especially with a player in Kris, who is undeniably a more dynamic and polished player. Not to mention Patrick is Charmin soft. Patrick plays defense at a 5th grade level and would not get the run that he does if his father wasn't the coach.

Give Kris the same amount of rope and you'd be lying if you said that the production wouldn't be drastically better. Patrick gets more than 7mpg more and rebounds less and defends worse RIGHT NOW.

There's no way one can argue that the results would be worse if those minutes were reversed.

I do think Patrick will be drastically better and tougher when he's a senior. Give him 24mpg in 2 years.

let's just hope he's still motivated in year six of college ball

(I wonder if JorBo's regression this year is largely due to being a little tired of the game)

It's not. We don't have a wing that can do shit so he's being exposed. He's benefited from at least multiple threats in the starting five drawing attention for most of his career.

We are a long way from Patrick meeting Doug’s expectations. There is still time I guess.

and for the record I’m still all over the Fran nepotism angle because now it seems we have to have a mccaffery on the floor at all times.
My quoted text was about dj Harvey lol

Like I said the other day - the nepotism isn't that he was offered. The nepotism is the way he's used now relative to his contributions on the court.

I got lost down a rabbit hole and saw that Tyreke Locure is at UL-M again for his 5th year. He transferred to UAB from South Alabama and barely played, so he left. He averaged 14 ppg with a high of 33 last year, and appears to still be an incredible chucker.

Fran offered him and the key at the same time, along with a kid that ended up at Minnesota
