Maybe WR/SG, but I can't recall one since Andre Rison (who couldn't shoot and had a shaky handle -- fine motor skills, again).
Bruce Ellington averaged double figures as a guard at South Carolina and was an All-SEC wide receiver that is still playing in the NFL.
As a 25-year resident of the Palmetto State, I must hang my head in shame.

However, as a Hawkeye fan I don't give a cold shit about Clemson or South Carolina.

Winfield and Ainge get a pass -- the basketball/baseball combo is a little easier to make work from a s&c perspective, though baseball players have really bulked up over the past twenty-five years. Also, those guys were playing in the late stone ages of s&c (and did little, or no, lifting while collegiate athletes).

Doug's point still holds: the football/basketball combo is really difficult to make work with modern s&c practices. PF/TE, QB/PG are workable combinations, but the kid probably won't be able to dedicate the practice time to hone fine-motor basketball skills.

Maybe WR/SG, but I can't recall one since Andre Rison (who couldn't shoot and had a shaky handle -- fine motor skills, again).
Charlie Ward.

Xavier Foster official to Iowa September 7-8. Same time as TJD, Patrick and Toussiant.

I thought you couldn't take an official until your senior year?
New rules. Players can take up to 15 official visits starting their junior year. Players can also take more than one official visit to a school, so long as the visits are at least a year apart.

We give Fran shit for things (most of it deserved), but this is a good move by him and he deserves credit. Fran is the kind of guy who is kind of a prick and is hard on other people, but would fight to the end of the world and back for his own kids. For better or for worse, that shows in his recruiting

It sucks swimming upstream against tradition rich schools that merely have to offer to land kids. But every once in a great while you might land one, so you’ve gotta try. At least his family are solid Hawk fans. That’s why losing him would hurt more than Carton imo.

I hope Fran offers Dwyane Wade's kid. He may be able to help with recruiting.

The odds of Xavier Foster committing to Iowa State would seem to be astronomically low. Unfortunately the odds of his committing to Iowa are only marginally better.

He either will or won’t. 50/50.

247 shows him 100% to Wisconsin with all 5 picks happening in the last few days.

Wisconsin does a good job developing its players. Imagine Moss having improved as much as Khalil Iverson.

You must be talking about that huge improvement Iverson had from 3 when he went 0-24 on the year. Would love to see that kind of improvement from Moss.

And man it would be amazing if Fran could develop players. Just think of what Marble and White and Olaseni coulda been with a little development.

This article says Foster was recently measured at 7 feet tall :icon_eek:

Would be nice to have a big year for him to see.

Henry is great. He may allow UNI to score a point in the post in a few years.

Iowa is doing well this year and looks like would be a good fit for a talent like that. Do we still have a chance with him? 247 crystal ball predictions are all for Iowa - is that worth anything at all?

I mean, I wouldn't read much into the Duke or Syracuse guy choosing Iowa, but the guys who work for the Iowa site probably have at least a little insight. At this point, seems like it is too far away to feel too confident just based on those predictions, but Iowa at least being in the ballgame obviously bodes well.

I know that Jerry Meyer on 24/7 had stated that Iowa State was the leader over the summer, so the fact that he has changed his position just within the last couple months is encouraging. On the other hand, the fact that he ever said Iowa State was the leader suggests he may be full of shit.

These Crystal Ball picks would probably be more valuable if you had to lock in your first pick and weren't free to change them as you see fit.

Plus Meyer changed his pick to Iowa a few months ago, before Xavier even took his trip to Iowa St. Questionable, right?

That would make them less valuable.

If they were chosen like 3 years in advance, but I think people wouldn't be as likely to just go in and choose a school if that were the case. I don't think they are all that valuable period.

It might make them more entertaining if people had to lock them in, but it would undeniably make them less useful if you actually cared about them as having any sort of predictive value. Incidentally, I don't know why anyone would care.

they are not valuable until the last 72 hours or so before someone commits and info leaks.

12 guys have made their selections for Iowa!!!! Translation: One guy changed his and 11 others flipped theirs in response.

I hear he isn’t great in school and Osky loses a lot so a year of prep school seems like a decent possibility. For his senior year, not post-grad.
