Today is the day that Iowa State Basketball officially became Iowa Football with a lot of in-state recruits going forward. They have better facilities, much better fan support, better overall success in recent times and a history of putting guys in the NBA.

A kid that Iowa recruited harder than anyone, offered first and his entire family are Iowa fans told Iowa that he would rather play for their in-state rival because he felt he had a better opportunity to succeed and get to the NBA. Same thing that many kids say to Iowa State in Football and why they choose Iowa.

Not really hard to understand.

It has more to do with teams around Iowa (that Iowa fans compare themselves to) than Iowa itself. Minnesota looks good in football and if they win Saturday are likely going to the Rose Bowl. Illinois is going to a bowl. Iowa State is now decent in football and just landed the top in state Iowa fan basketball recruit. Wisconsin football is strong again and Iowa seems to be just fine where they’re at.

The only thing left for people to mock is Nebrantska.

The football team absolutely has to win on Saturday.
