NIL contracts done with reasonable care take care of the problem y'all are pissing over. Nice match though.

reasonable care is harder when you have to pretend you aren’t paying them to do what you are actually paying them to do. usually they wind up having weird terms like requiring the kid to live in a certain geographic area for the term of the contract. there are also practical concerns about being an NIL that sues players when its entire purpose is to attract them.

No it doesn't. None of this shit is enforceable even if you make the most iron-clad contract because the public relations hit you would take and time it would take is even more detrimental to your NIL and program.

Let's take Kadyn Proctor for example. If Brad was the best contract lawyer ever and had written up a bullet proof deal and Proctor signed it, doesn't matter one fucking bit. Proctor chooses to transfer to Iowa, takes his upfront payment, gets cold feet and runs back to Alabama with the upfront money.

What is Brad going to do? Sue him? Drag him through the mud publicly? Ok, great. Now you have given every single other program, NIL fund and player agent the ammunition to tell future recruits and transfers "hey man, don't go to Iowa, they are crazy and will sue you and try to take your money back". Even if you win the legal battle and get the money back, it cost you far more in lawyer fees and public relations damage.

That's why all of this is fucked until they form a new entity that operates as a professional league with uniform contracts and collective bargaining.

NIL has really only benefitted Iowa so far. Maybe not the proctor situation, but really in the old system he goes south and that's it, so what's the difference.

Iowa was def not cheating before so it has evened the playing field slightly.

Bullshit, if Brad had sued Proctor his NIL donations would have gone through the roof. HALOites still do not donate citing Proctor.

You'd choose not to sue a guy for opting out of a bowl game, certainly, but the pissing match was over guys like Proctor that took money and bolted.

Take the frosh Mich qb, his reported NIL deal is 10 mil over 4 years. Guaren-fucking-T there is iron-clad protection in that contract.

Proctor didn’t receive all of the money up front.

Agree to disagree. Especially at Kirk's Iowa program, you don't offer a guy until you believe he is a fit for the program. He meets the players, they vouch for the program. And they vouch for the NIL deal being legit.

You sue Proctor there would have been plenty of national media in favor of upholding integrity. You all were all all about integrity for pages on end, but now say it would never fly.

a group representing bunch of rich-ish white guys from Iowa suing a young black kid over "integrity" is not going to be a PR win.

Iowa football already has a reputation for being stuck in the past and anti-Black.

Imagine throwing a lawsuit against a Black kid over NIL money onto that fire.

He got 1.5 mil from Alabama as a frosh, Iowa paid him 500K to transfer, he stayed a week and went back to Alabama for another 1.5.

Iowa wants their 500 back, the horror! We must protest!

And the race card, c'mon.

The first collective to sue a player for leaving is going to get raked over the coals in national media. LMAO at surging donations. You would look like the ultimate bad guy.
there’s already a ton of shady CFB donors. We just need one of them to get fucked out of a lot of money and whack a starting qb. Shit would change real quick.

Dominique Douglas was born 15 years too early. That guy would have maximized the NIL system.

It's not about whose opinion I respect or do not.

You suggested that the reaction would be support from "plenty of national media." You're wrong.
Which is your opinion. Which makes whose opinion you respect relevant, and you did cite ESPN.

Back to agree to disagree.

I’m sure it would do wonders for future potential recruits.

Also, the whole NIL scam is based on providing plausible deniability that it’s not pay for play, even though it obviously is. Suing based on not honoring a commitment that supposedly doesn’t exist just isn’t going to happen as it’s counterproductive.

Lolz -- Deacon and Fordham at one point and now Lainez and Elon. Really scouting and developing right.
