If we're going to play the NET game I'd rather go this route with decent mid major teams than playing a bunch of 300+ level teams to boost the efficiency stats.
Agree this is better than a 300+ home game. I just think in general the sport would be better and have more early season fan engagement if there were more power conference home and homes built into the non-conference schedule. Fewer eyeballs are watching college basketball and most aren’t even paying attention until March Madness. The Gavitt games went away this year. The ACC challenge ended with the tv contract change last year. How are schools like Iowa replacing these potential power 5 non-conference home games?

Kakert hinted at them playing a shitty team in Moline as well.

I don’t have a problem with the neutral site games close to Iowa. People are not showing up anyway. They should play 2-3 non conference games a year in Des Moines.

I remember going to that Iowa game at the Mark of the Quad Cities when Settles was a 12th year senior

This wont happen and Moline is a school for homos, but their court is one of the largest high school basketball gyms in the country. And we have 2 players from there.

Not a terrible idea

Is Iowa basketball really ready to have three, three guys who can jump, on the same team?

Can someone please remind me if Dembele is any good? I don’t recall him being very athletic. Decent defender, occasional 3s, raw offensively.

He’s black so automatically that’s good.

He's raw, but it's okay that not every player is a polished final version of themselves by their freshman year.

When Iowa had their little stretch of looking like they may make a run at the bubble, he was providing some good minutes. A lot of games I personally thought he should have played a little more. As mentioned, definitely raw, but there was some promise there.

He was a breath of fresh air and a decent contributor when he came in, imo.

He moves well enough that when he has to do Fran's stupid hedging on a screen he might not get completely toasted like recent post players

It’s probably because he’s black, but you can see what Frans developmental history could potentially turn him in to. He wasn’t a hesitant shooter. Just needs to build some confidence.

He did struggle with basic defensive fundamentals which I’m not sure this coaching staff can help him with.

Not necessarily a shitty team. Washington State in Moline.

Other than the fact that the Quad cities are a huge fan base, an hour away from Iowa city, moline has two former players playing for us, and it’s a neutral site game for net purposes?
what makes a neutral site a neutral site?
