Northwestern and Rutgers are very small. I agree they need to prioritize the experience and not max capacity but under 10k seems too small.

10k is the right size for college basketball moving forward. It's about the atmosphere, not how many people you can shove in a bowl that are so far away the players look like ants

The key to financing the entire thing is the luxury boxes, and we need a big coaching hire to maximize that opportunity.

Football didn’t build enough in Kinnick and there’s a mega waitlist despite not being able to score any offensive points. Actual Carver luxury boxes around 3/4 of the bowl would do very well. Make the ceiling of them the same height as the concourse and it creates a ton of room up there, while blocking the view from the rail. Open them up early with a sports bar type environment like the NEZ club and build a couple pedestrian overpasses to keep traffic moving.

iowa hoops will be back within two years. Bring it in!

I went to the Heartlanders last night and the place was small enough that the 2-3000 people there felt loud and into it. 7-10000 people would be plenty of people.

Put 20% of the budget for a new arena into renovating Carver with luxury boxes, a large party bar, and some other amenities.

Gets the old fuckers off the court, adds boxes which rich folks eat up, gets rid of plenty of usually empty seats, and overall would just help create a better atmosphere.

Seems like you could make this work and have enough area in blue for parking including a large garage/ramp with pedestrian access right next door.
