Looking ahead to next years roster, without factoring in portal losses, the offense will be ok.

Will finally have a QB that’s been in the system for a whole year for once.

Lauck, Leighton Jones, Pieper, Myslinski, Dotzler won’t be as good as this years group but should be serviceable. They’re also very high on Allgeyer at tackle.

VanderZee, Howard, Parker, Buie. Not great but on par with what they’ve had. All the TEs back, including Ostrenga, other than Large. Vonnahme is going to be very good. Also recruited well but they’re all underclassmen.

I assume they’ll lose a running back to the portal otherwise they’ll all be back.

Defense is going to be where they need to do their portal work. Lose 3/5 of the secondary and the entire starting defensive line.

I’d be pretty shocked if the young linebackers are not the starters next year.

Watson, Lee, Lutmer, Entringer and the Purdue transfer or Kael Kolarifk? should be ok.

Hopefully the younger defensive lineman are ready to step in after another year in the program. They really need Iose to be good. Hawthorn to take a step and 3 others out of Anderson, Kennedy, Chineke, Campbell, Borcherding-Johnson, Fitzgibbon to be good. Allen needs to actually play to his ability. Merriweather seems to be on the right trajectory.

Pieper going pro would be a killer. Will need a lot of help at DT. Will Hubert is not going to get it done.

They’ve got the resources to go after a proven QB that can be there in the spring. I’ll be surprised and disappointed if it’s determined a 5”11 Wake Forest transfer is the best option.

There needs to be an upgrade at WR and QB if possible. Hecklinski seems limited, but, lets hope he is an answer.

D Line will be an issue, it is not that great this year. D line is probably a tough spot to replace in the portal since it is a position in demand at the P2 level.

The conference road schedule looks challenging next year and Ohio State at home. No Oregon, Indiana, Penn State or USC helps

What are we looking at safety next year? Lutmer and ? With so many young linebackers do they move someone?

I’ve heard Ries is the 2nd fastest guy on the team from a couple different places. One was Doc and the other was Ries’ family member. Seems hard to believe. If true, is he a safety?

He’s an amazing athlete and I believe it if that’s what they’re saying. I’ve mentioned a couple times here that I could see him playing safety.

He’s apparently extremely fast and freakishly strong

We scrimmaged Monti the summer after his freshman year and he threw down 3 to 4 dunks on us…in traffic. And he’s kind of a dick in the way that you hate playing against him but love him on your team.

I only remember Ries blocking air on that punt return that shoulda been a TD at Rutgers I think. That air was lit the fuck up though

The amount of young talent at the LB spot...including the (2) recruits they have coming in is sort of bonkers. But also annoying that the position is such a weakness on this years team as well.

I think he’s saying he’s a real dumbfuck that happens to be very athletic. Which I can confirm based on the punt return

How much has he bulked up? If he's 240 or more, getting to a reasonable safety weight would seem challenging. What about using him as a Juszczyk type weapon?
