I was in Montreux. Spent time on a glacier, went in lake Geneva, toured a castle, went to Olympic museum. French people suck, their food was overrated and I wasn’t there long enough (6 days) to acclimate to the time change.

How many BIG games are at 11 generally each week, 1,2? What are the odds that the Oregon game is at 11? I would think pretty low since they are traveling from the West Coast right?

Fox and sometimes btn. It's a really shitty week, so that and Indiana/Penn State are about the best two games.

If Iowa wins the next 2, we’re Big Noon bound for Oregon.

Is there a reason Kinnick doesn’t turn the lights off and flicker during night game TD’s you see so many other teams do these days?

Isn't a lot of the lighting Kinnick uses still portable from Musco or is that not the case anymore? If it is I can see that being the reason.

Camp Randal is a dump
Went to the game a couple years back and thought the same thing. For all the hype of the "jump around" and such, the rest of the environment really lacks. Very poor sound system and video playback boards.

I had to laugh, they make the students come in after the game starts single file. They usher them to their seats. It was in the second quarter and students were still filing in. I'd be pissed if I missed an entire quarter of the game with that system.

Instead of lights that might be able to flicker, can we focus on the god awful audio/video presentation? Speakers are awful - maybe try putting one or a few dozen around all sides of the stadium. The scoreboards are terrible - there are panels that need replacing and they barely show any stats.

Everyone has a phone. Why do they need to show stats on the scoreboard

Because it’s a lot less distracting to glance at the scoreboard than it is to take out your phone, wait for the wifi to load, and navigate to espn.com, at the same time you are trying to enjoy a live football game

I took his comment as a joke but perhaps I was wrong.

Even Des Moines Roosevelt does it at Mediacom Stadium for their one TD they score a game. (but admittedly cool for a high school stadium atmosphere)

Maybe some of both. They could probably show more, but I don't know what their software allows. But everyone also has a cell phone, so if there's something particular you want to see, faster and easier to find it yourself.

I can't connect to stadium WiFi, wrong side, and my cell service is spotty. Will be fine one moment, then no service for 15 minutes.

Figured out how to change username on YouTube to hide my handle, so what the flickering lights thing looked like (these really didn't flicker for this shot, but at other times they used that effect).

It's the type of lights and when they were installed. All of them are Musco Lighting, but the lights at Kinnick are likely still their Light Structure Green 1500 watt metal halide bulb. Those are, for lack of a better term, old school lights that need time to ramp up to full lumen and if you shut them off it takes all that time to ramp up again to full light.

The places you see with the lights flickering are all newer Musco LED installations done in the last few years or retrofitted with the LED lights and software required to put on that sort of light show. LED lights can be turned on and off instantly and don't lose any lumens. They are also way more energy efficient.

They can do it because they have a brand new Musco LED installation.
