What is the general feeling on Will Wade? I heard someone bring his name up. Looks like he did well at LSU before some recruiting violations. Which in my opinion makes him a stronger candidate. BM is still probably the better and safer choice.
Might already have a contract signed at NC State.

In a world where Owen Freeman is getting $1.7 million and Coleman Hawkins $2 million, the likelihood of Iowa recruiting the white suburban all-stars in state is going to increase.

I really wasn't joking when I said I'd rather chase championships in other sports than sweet sixteens in men's basketball. There are so many challenges stacked against us as a basketball school. We can win in football, wrestling and women's basketball why throw good money after bad

Give McCollum or Gatenst he job and hope for the best

From an IU fan on another Iowa site:

I come in peace. I think it is NIL. The $7 million figure you guys were throwing around earlier for salary is what we were hearing NIL was set to be (with $5M/yr being the salary I think-which is a little above average but not crazy). IU is also saying they will double the revenue share amount for basketball too. College basketball is crazy competitive and yes, Indiana can be a tough fishbowl to coach in, but Iowa is apparently having to compete with a hand tied behind its back from an NIL perspective. Yeah, you can win doing that but if you don't have to as a coach, why would you?

And FWIW, I think the current model sucks. NIL is pay for play, it is what the shoe companies used to do for teams like Duke and Kentucky spread out across the country and injected with steroids. The dirty not so secret being that the majority of the money flowing has nothing to do with the average alumni donors. Indiana's is driven by a few billionaires and multi-millionaires. Our $500 donations are nice for them to have but that is drops in a bucket. We have the Cooks, the heir to the Simon malls (name on Assembly Hall), and Cuban (and he isn't a big NIL driver) that can be big backers. You need at least one billionaire who will fund your NIL or you are on the outside looking in no matter how great you are at fundraising.

I was just texting with an idiot about this.

20 HaLo posters could all give $10K and it's literally nothing. LOL at rounding up on Carver cones.

It’s why the “call to arms” stuff and message board posting Brad does is dumb too. Raising money 20 bucks a month from yokels on “insider” websites doesn’t move the needle.

Yep. The alumni bases with the most hundred millionaires+ who are also going through mid-life crises are best suited for this new world.
Leaving most fan bases no longer giving a shit. Not like this wasn’t predictable. Perhaps turning college sports into pro sports with very few restrictions wasn’t a great idea.

I’m not sure it’s possible for me to hate Connor and Patrick anymore than I did from how they play basketball. Iowa set up their family for generational wealth. Fran was given 15 years when many schools would’ve cut him well before that based on postseason performance alone. Both of his boys got to play power five basketball. Connor turned into a decent player, but Patrick was fucking terrible. Connor used the opportunity to date the most recognizable female athlete in the world. But somehow, these fucking douche bags hate Iowa now. Fuck them.

This last football season was the best football season in a long time (outside of Iowa disappointing slightly, but even then the offense was so much more enjoyable to watch). Basketball has been lost for awhile.

Right. I also think that’s a big reason to assume Chris Jans would be a possibility. I don’t know anything about the donors for Iowas NIL but oddly I have had conversations with 2 Miss St alums, one a current CEO of very large public company (and has been for. Couple decades) and the other a former CEO who sold out to private equity for a couple billion. They both independently mentioned that they write an annual check for football and basketball NIL and are generally willing to listen if there’s a case to be made for more donations.

tough to hang with that using carver cones or even $5k donations.

Shit, it doesn't even take that much. Just one multi-millionaire with a passion for the program and you're set for the foreseeable future.
