Reading Iowa is moving on from Nyk Lewis. Asking for a lot of money for someone unproven. No idea if that is legit or not.

Bock making it sound like he told them he was committing but now he’s been fucking around so they’re moving on. Might be a new team that came in, might be a leverage play. If the kid is doing that now, he probably wasn’t going to stick at Iowa anyway.

He would get to play behind and alongside an all American point guard for a year, and then all that kids money comes off the books and he can renegotiate. Whatever

It’s important to remember that college kids were already retarded, now you throw in a bunch of earnings potential and even more retarded agents and this is what you get.

Right. Perfect situation for a kid like that with a coach who has PG development track record. Can’t imagine dealing with some of these agents and dads.

Now people are saying Iowa is backing off of Alvaro Folgueiras as well. When will Ben's walkon tryouts be taking place?

probably tempting for a lot of these guys to 'hold out' and fish around for higher offers. Nyk Lewis already decommitted once, right? probably a sign that's what's going on. i don't blame these kids for doing it. but the aggregate of all this is greater incentive for an alternative structure where the players have less power. it's pretty crazy right now. Top performers have a ton of power. that's great. but the lower tier players are going to get screwed eventually. and i'd suggest over the years shaky contracts and shady comp packages will result in screwed over players even at the elite level.

what's weirdest to me is we never hear of compensation packages that are based on performance, or games played, or production milestones met. it sounds like everything is just x amount for y years. that's stupid. but a player's market at this point.

the big money interests, namely tv and athletic departments, will coordinate with the lower rungs of players, in the name of equity, to force some sort of collective bargaining more akin to the national pro leagues. not necessarily salary caps, but more rules to the road and some limitation on transfers. i think it will take years to get there though.

until then, it's the wild west and BMC needs to moneyball the shit out of this and not play the games of these guys who want to hold out and create bidding wars. those guys are probably more prone to being headcases anyway.

the sky is not falling quite yet. Here's some grade A copium to counter recent news about transfer hopefuls:

the transfer portal doesn't even CLOSE until 4/25.

According to on3, as of today, 4/18:

- 1,022 players have entered the portal
- 380 have committed
- 642 remain
- there's no deadline for players to commit. no doubt some will remain until the summer.
- there also seems to be little reticence for players to DE-commit. the portal window seems like just the beginning of the process.
- there are also hundreds (thousands?) of uncommitted high schoolers out there.

a big part of BMC's success seems to be a team that buys in to the culture.

current needs:

1. the big need is obviously an athletic 5 man.
2. another ball handler and
3. another wing shooter.
4. then filler.

2, 3, and 4 should be easy and are easily filled, in my opinion, by the 600+ available players.

i like this team already.

Lewis’ coach left the school. Which I suppose is better than the other Lewis’ coach leaving the earth.

I agree with Syracuse football coach Fran Brown on these crazy NIL demands.

That's a parody account saying that
Moe/Larry and Curly are thinking Sagatoogie with all of your spit balling about these college kids with agents whose resume includes worked at Sam Drucker's pharmacy in Hooterville, fuck all this bullshit, get some kids who want to play and not extort and take what we get, who knows could finish 6th in the big versus last year 15th begging to at least get to play in my own conference tournament
