I'd take Sedric Shaw over what we have now. Darby Shaw even

In 2006, Shaw left the NFL for the University of San Diego to join head coach Jim Harbaugh's staff as passing game coordinator. The 11–1 Toreros' offense led the NCAA Division I-AA in many statistical categories, including passing offense (293.3 ypg), total offense (494.25 ypg), and scoring offense (42.83 ppg).[1][3]

When Harbaugh was hired as head coach of Shaw's alma mater, Stanford, in 2007, he brought Shaw as offensive coordinator. During his years as an assistant coach, Shaw also coached the Cardinal wide receivers and running backs.[3]

Shaw's unit performed successfully during his years as coordinator, led by 2010 Heisman Trophy runner-up Andrew Luck.[3] They scored at least 40 points in 11 different games with Shaw as offensive coordinator, including 10 times in the 2009 and 2010 seasons. The Cardinal achieved a school-record 461 points in 2009 and broke the record again the following season with 524 points.[1]

I use to be really envious of Shaw and Stanford but much like Kirk, I don’t get the sense he adapted much over the years and the program fell into shambles.

Seems like a long shot to me but there is some logic there.

Stanford is a difficult place to win but he’d probably have to drop down to group of 5 and do a rebuild for another HC gig at this juncture.

I would guess a Big 10 OC job and a turnaround on offense there gets him back to power 5 in a couple years.

Why is every retard on this board convinced that failed head coaches are automatically bad coordinators, or that failed coordinators are automatically bad position coaches?

The opposite is usually true.
He also wasn’t “failed”. Finished ranked top 12 five times his first six years then 20th the next year. Then 9-4. Bad 2019, 4-2 covid year then wheels fell off the last two.

I wasn’t aware until recently how much the rule changes and the situation at Stanford crippled them. The early signing period apparently was a huge factor because they often aren’t able to get guys admitted on the expedited timeline. The only transfer they had was a walk on, couldn’t get them admitted.

I would still be shocked if it happened though.

I didn’t realize that about the rules. I guess it’s fair to admit the dumbfuckery that was California during Covid probably hurt the development of players more than most schools
