Have you folks heard those Deion motivational speeches at Colorado? Guy sounds like a total dipshit
The whole team should have transferred when he asked the team to welcome his son, the new starting quarterback. That shit only happens at Iowa.

Colorado seems like a poor place for Deion’s schtick to work. Not sure Boulder is going to appeal long term for talented black guys mostly from far warmer locales.

Colorado also seems to care about its institutional image enough that there will be conflicts.
Didn’t they rely on a lot of African Americans from California during their period of success in the 80s and 90s? I guess I think there is precedent for getting good black athletes, albeit a generation ago.

Second point is a good one.

That’s true. McCartney was before my time, so I only have some vague memories of the Neuheisel years. The other difference I would see is maybe that it looks like McCartney slowly built over the 80s, whereas Deion is clearly looking to sell instant success. But Deion is also infinitely cooler than the guy who later started Promise Keepers. And the US population is more skewed to warm weather states, particularly from the SEC which has been dominating the sport for 15+ years. So it seems like an even harder sale.

There is a very good documentary on this era of CU football.

They won and there were some challenges.

California, Texas, Michigan and Louisiana. They pulled Kordell Stewart, Vance Joseph and Shannon Clavelle out of New Orleans.. Guys like Rashaan Salaam, Charles Johnson, Darian Hagan, Eric Bieniemy, Chad Brown, Deon Figures etc. came from California. Alfred Williams and Kanavis McGhee came from TX.

Iowa about to get another WR to play alongside Flipper Anderson's son.
Talking 2nd and 3rd string here?

You know Alec Wick and Reese Osbad are going to play more than Seth or any transfer

Kirk would be better off probably going after a couple MAC level WRs with a couple years of eligibility and hope they get one to hit vs going after a “Henning” type.

WR guys like AJ Henning are entering the portal seeking a better opportunity, that being to play for Kirk’s son, Kirk’s son, Brian Ferentz.
I tend to agree with this, Clete.

I’d love to know what Cade is telling him about Iowa’s current crop of receivers.

As long as they aren’t too Charlie Jones and know their place in what we’re trying to accomplish.

Don't be shortchanging Jack Johnson, Friedrichsen or Adolf Eichmann.

In their defense, at least the walk-ons don't break feet or hands and have pulled hamstrings 6 months of the year.

If he goes somewhere where they really sling it around, he also might end up like JD Spielman, who caught 13 balls in two years after transferring to TCU. ( He may regard himself a bit too highly.)
I had forgotten Spielman transferred to TCU so looked him up. He played in only 7 games total with TCU due to injuries.
